Honestly, I have no idea what will be tested for the March summative tests yet...but guess it will be the stuff taught in P1 like pronouns, tenses, adjectives. I am coaching my daughter in her comprehension :frustrated: -
Thanks for sharing .

Sure...no worries.
This year, I'm starting to breathe down her neck a little. She has a very short memory, so everydayI have to revise 1-2 pages of grammar with her. It's not easy coaching her bcos her moods can kill me. -
My gal too. Not easy to manage . She has her own way of doing things . High pride .still find my DS easy to manage .

My son was so much easier to handle in terms of work...yes, he dreamt a lot at P1/2 but was willing to do what I set for him...but my daughter will complain her hands are tired, she is sleepy, hungry, thirsty etc etc :slapshead: it's frustrating handling her. -
i attended the P4 briefing held in the sch last week. During first part of the briefing, parents were told that the sch has implemented a "think-out-of-box" interactive project called "Interact". Basically, they realise that apart from the traditional rote learning, it is critical for kids to create questions and think aloud.
Then the next half of the briefing were centered ard the topic of end of year P4 streaming. End of P4, parents will be asked to choose the suitable subject combi (foundation/standard level) for the gals but the selection are actually solely based on SA1 (30%) and SA2 (70%)results. I was kinda disappointed to hear that. So much discussion and talking abt having holistic education, and ended up exam are the ones that matter. I thought the sch shd have adopted a better balanced approach by considering their weekly test/spelling/project etc. One of the parents raised the same issue but I think the sch did not give a satisfactory answer. And what is the value of having those "Interact" or other holistic assessments if the school are still using exam papers as the sole critieria to measure the gals’ performance??
Another issue I am concerned is the number of resources allocated to Science subject. When I looked at my gals’ time table (P3 and P4), they have 2.5 hr of science lesson weekly. Given that Science has the same weightage as other subjects in the exam, shouldn’t the school allocate more lessons for Science? -

At the end of P4, students are selected to take either standard or foundation subjects. Bottom line is, EXAMS RESULTS DO MATTER regardless of all those talk about holistic education...it's pure bullshit of MOE to tell parents about HOLISTIC :stupid: . The 4 standard subjects at P5 was hell time last year for all of us.
Science and Math carry same weightage but Chinese and English are still given more emphasis because there are components like oral and compo.
My son in P5 last year didn't have Science lessons everyday either. -
