Why don't you make use of the opportunity to meet up with Joanne, the principal of Learning Vision@NUS, and find out more about Learning Vision from her. You can, at the same time, visit the Kent Vale centre to get an idea of the environment there (in case you decide to enrol with LSH). It's killing two birds with one stone. :evil:
Little Skool House will only make minor renovations to get the place ready on 02 Jan 10. Major renovation works will be carried out from June 10 onwards. -

In addition to what lzxuan posted on LSH in the other thread, http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=795&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=135, below were mentioned in the briefing.
A representative from the Office of Human Resources of NUS explained why LSH was awarded the contract. The three main criteria were:
1. Curriculum
2. Staff
3. SOP
According to NUS, LSH won hands-down on all the three aspects. They claimed that the selection process was transparent, and the selection committee consisted of professionals and educators, child psychologists, etc. They visited other centres of LSH, and saw that the children were all very happy (as if the children in LV were not happy. :? If the children in LV were really not happy, it actually took NUS 9 years to realise it? :!:
).
Hence, LSH was awarded the contract. -

1. Parents who sign up with LSH will get the following:
- one complimentary set of uniform ($21)
- subsequent set will be sold at 10% discoun
- 10x$10 vouchers of enrichment program, to be utilised anytime before the child’s graduation
2. LSH will have assessments (tests) for the child to gauge how well they have progressed. Not sure when the assessments will be carried out.
3. Minor renovation will take place on 29 Dec 09-01 Jan 10. Major renovation will take place in Jun 2010. Why Jun 2010? Because that’s when kindergartens like My Little Skool will have their month-long holiday. The children of Kent Vale will then be able to go to occupy one of their kindergartens. However, they emphasised they will try to organise more outdoor activities during Jun 2010.
4. LSH will send out a survey form to parents indicating the daily arrival time of children, so that they can schedule bus transport from Kent Vale to the temporary centre.
5. LSH will organise a meeting in Dec 09 for all parents and children to get to know their teachers. Details yet to be finalised. There will be another round of orientation in Jan 2010 when LSH officially takes over the Kent Vale centre.

I requested the following programs to be included:
1. English Speech and Drama - at no additional charge to parents
2. Home School Literary Program
For the first program, LSH will look at the feasibility of offering it in Kent Vale.
LSH has no problem offering the second program.
LSH will organise a preview session for the enrichment programs that it offers. Parents can then decide which program to sign their children up for. Currently, LSH only has two centres that accept children from other centres in the enrichment program. LSH will only offer the program if there is sufficient demand. -

Not sure whether parents or children are unhappy with LV, but 5 years ago, when I was deliberating which childcare centre to send my son to, I asked around, and the general feedback on LV@NUS wasn't favourable. In fact, my friend strongly discouraged me from sending my boy there. We eventually sent our boy to another childcare centre.
It was only after we came back from my husband's sabbatical leave that we put our children in LV@NUS. I must say the initial 6 months in LV@NUS wasn't good at all. However, things have improved.
LSH is actually in a joint venture with NUS Co-op in managing the childcare centre in Kent Vale. Hence, I would take what the OHR representative said with a pinch of salt, because I feel there's a conflict of interest in the evaluation process, no matter how transparent they claimed they were.Fion Loh:

My husband will try to see if there is another way to bypass the heavy traffic from his office to SP2 before we decide. However, if there is no other way to reach SP2, we will go with LSH. -
