Morning Everyone!!
Funz.. :hugs: sorry to hear tat.. is ur DS having P1 jitters? Everything make look gd on surface.. studies n all, but haf u spoken to his teacher n c how he progress in sch? and if he has any problem mixing wif his frens.. any problem getting food during recess.. etc..
Hope u'll b able to find a solution to it soon.. -
Thanks Mintymin.
He was excited to start P1. 1st couple of days was ok though he did say it was kinda boring. Thereafter he did say not as boring and we thought he was settling in well. He came home happy yesterday, was chirpy and all though he did not want to talk much about school. We have not been having any problems with him with regards to him doing his homework or learning his spelling and tingxie. And he will automatically get ready and go to bed at 9pm. I was a little shocked to find him sobbing quietly when I went in to say goodnight to him and DD.
I have yet to speak to his teachers as I strongly suspect it is his own ganchiongness making him like that. He has a perfectionist streak in him which makes him a bit high strung. He thinks that there can be no room for mistakes or errors. So that can make life a bit stressful.
Haiz. How I wish the problem is more straight forward like issues with the school or teacher or even friends. When it is due to his character, tougher to address. -

No worries - I guess with the help & love of a dedicated mummy like you, your DS will open up and share more with you
Also, I think it will be good too to speak with the FT and let her knows the situation.
Wishing you and your DS a blessed year ahead! :hugs: -

I will revise the school work everyday with her (include spelling, currently no ting xie to learn) The teacher will say and they listen and write the ans. :scratchhead:
Ya, finally is Feb and we had survive as now i stay very far from the school. It took 1 and half hour to reach hm...
I :salute: you on revising everyday... I let dd1 do her homework and take a look after it is done. think my assessments are hitting a road block due to time constraint... :faint: -

hope you are feeling better, your DS has his friends around him? From Day 1, I will set aside a time to ask DD1 on her day in school. Frenz, did she mingle , did anyone say anything to her? how she feels...Morning all. Just back from my morning walk.
His excuses and grumblings about school, I can handle. His sad sobbing at bedtime, I am not handling that well. He even told me the problem is himself, not the school or the teachers or his friends, just himself.
Haiz, I'm :heartbroken:
the only time she was upset when her friend suddenly yelled back at her..
for your DS, does he speak of any one he enjoys with in school or what he does during recess..?
if he is being a perfectionist... is his homework bothering him or he finds it hard to accept that he doesnt get to be the group monitor or being assigned duties..?
DD1 literally goes sullen if she doesnt get assigned a duty by the FT so FT tells her she assigns tasks to DD1 to keep her occupied... -

DD1 is waking at 7 - 7.30am daily since we need to send her to student care so she has got used to the whole schedule. If we reach home at 7.30pm, she will grumble that the journey is kind of long

He does have a few friends. In fact one of our neighbour's kid is his classmate and a couple others are on the same school bus with him though they are older. They will arrange to meet at the playground or that classmate will come to our house for some playtime after school on some days. DS did say that he does not talk to this neighbour much in school. Asked him why not, he say no chance as they do not sit together and since he is short and the boy tall he is at the front of the line while the boy at the back.
DS is a stickler for rules. So the teacher said that they are to go to the assembly area, sit in their respective class line and do silent reading when they arrive in the school, DS did exactly that. He does not dare go seek his friend out to talk even if he arrives early. Bad but I think I may have to teach him to break some rules.
He is coping well with school work. By the time I get home he would have completed his homework. And when I check through, all properly done. Spelling and tingxie all full marks. Which is also why he keeps saying it is boring as well. Nothing to look forward to at school. Only one he struggles with some times is drawing.
As far as I know, the teacher has not appointed any monitor/class leader yet. Right now, him being so high strung, I am not sure if he should be assigned more duties. Can you imagine, he kept harping about the school locker all because last week, the FT say they will be assigned lockers on Monday. Come Monday, she did not have time, and I guess it is not on her lists of priorities. Until yesterday, the lockers were not assigned and everyday, DS keeps harping about how the FT said she will do something but did not do.
Anyway, coming to the end of the week already. We shall see how he is come next week. -
Just reach hm
