Why? Not so tough, lah. I learnt violin at 39, fingers were ok.

      Whoa....kudos to you. Tough.

Eh...somehow you dont get callous on the fingers while playing the violin, why? I think I should be learning it too since I have so many spare violins hanging at home. I am also keen on the erhu too.

Actually I did get some on my fingers, but briefly. I'm tough in that sense bc when I was a kid, I played the guitar, and each time I'd taken a \"break\" from playing for awhile, I'd get rough finger tips for a while, so I was familiar.

Hah - I have violin and erhu at home. Somehow I find that maybe I won't like the bowing of the erhu as much. These instruments are really all not easy. Piano is the easiest!

You have many full-sized violins at home, ah?

I sold away the smaller violins (well, there were only the 1/4 & the 1/2-sized ones) even though my son is using 3/4 now. I just wanted to clear up my storage. But after his little brother kept running after him to bow his violin, i now have a tiny 1/32 in the house. Thankfully it's small but keeps its tune fairly well! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Looking for one has my dd is learning the instrument as her school CCA. Sch provides one but dd cannot bring it home to practice.

Where can I get a new one and how much does an average one cost? Any brand to look out for? Sorry for the many questions as I am clueless on this. Thanks.

Go to Eason at Rochor Centre. http://www.eason.com.sg/

Note: I'm not related in anyway to them. I bought Yang Qin for my DD from them too. ๐Ÿ˜„

Yup I go to eason to buy accessories for my erhu too, like strings, rosin etc. I didnโ€™t get my erhu from them, but theyโ€™re pretty experienced and will advise you on the erhu suitable for you dd. You can direct all your questions to them.

                        Hi Jaiqing ่€ๅธˆ,

I am interested in letting my son (5 years) learn, do we need to buy an erhu first? Can you private message me your rates if there is 2 children in a group.

We do not have any musical background.
