[Bedok] Primary Schools

hi everybody,
is Bedok Green a good sch? cos actually i staying very very near and also everytime i see the student like not very good leh. Unless they are better now. If Bedok Green is really good then i will be very happy LOl cos i am staying just infront of the sch. -
I am staying 1.2km away from Temasek Pri School. What are my chances to get into that school if I do PV? What better way to increase my chance to get in? Any other recommendations for a good pri school in Bedok? I’m keen to let my son take Chinese as 2nd language. Both parents are Malay. Though Red Swastika is within 1km, I am very disappointed when was informed that they only take in children who have at least one parent of Chinese race. Is this true? Or discrimination of race and learning opportunity for the child? My son is born in Y2007. We’re just one year down before official registration process.

Hi, we are sort of in a chicken and egg problem. We applied to become a PV for Red Swastika but are currently staying in a Jurong address. We could move to Bedok Reservoir area (within 1 km) as soon as they could confirm acceptance of our PV but we are not sure of our chances at all. No news from the school so far. Many of my friends said that it is extremely difficult to get in as it is. Some say must try the grassroot way as well. We like their Chinese environment very much because my son is now attending kindergarten in Nanjing and would definitely fit in better when he comes back to Singapore to start his primary school. It has been very difficult for us for the past few months to decide a suitable school for my son. Could any one advise?

When will you be registering for your child? To go by the grassroot leader way, you need at least 3-4 years.
As for PV, you may like to indicate in the PV application form of your intention to move wihin 1 km of the school. This will increase your chance of being selected as a PV. -
Looks like we cannot go by the grassroot way. My son is born in 2007 so due for P1 registration in 2013 and ourselves as PV this year. We have indicated that we will move house to be near the school but we are anxious because we heard that it is even difficult to enter as a PV in Red Swastika. We have heard other schools have rejected PV applications outside their range even if the parents indicate their intention to move closer to the school.

not sure about that criterion you said about chinese parent and rationale. check with moe best. but if you or spouse know chinese and did it school, then demonstrate that you can coach your child in chinese at home to the school. they maybe worried that your kid fail chinese and pull down school grades.
for temasek, chances for entry by pv, phase 2b, very high.

As I checked the result of PSLE in the last few years, Haig Girls is better than the other two. However, Haig Girls is not so popular when you look at the history of registration. I don't know why.. -

Is it because of the mix of students there? As on the website, there are not many Chinese students.snowball2907:

I am also interested in any further info regarding whether Haig Girls’ School is better than Ngee Ann Pri?
P3 daughter is at Haig Girls’ School and is well adjusted.
P1 son is at Xinghua Primary which is far for us to drive so we’ve put him on the waiting list at Ngee Ann Primary.
Have also placed my P3 HGS daughter on the NAPS waiting list, but wonder if that is really a good choice to transfer from HGS to NAPS?!!!
