      Jennifer:

I think SPI is a bit kiddy for my elder boy who is going to sec 1 next year. πŸ˜‰

      ABSOLUTELY!!

For Deuter, I noticed that can get very good price during Carrefour Deuter Fair. :celebrate:

I find Deuter good coz it can take a lot of abuse!

SPI is way too childish for a Sec 1 boy already.

Yes, I got ours at the Deuter Fair at Carrefour. Think I paid $98 for the L size.

We prefer backpack to sling bag.

Wow, $98 is considered cheap vs those branded ergonomic ones. Must open eye big big from now on

Thanks pinky88...would definitely do that when the holiday starts!! It's dark blue but I know it's extremely dirty. Once I used a rag to wipe the base and the whole white rag turned black!!

            Hi pinky88

Agree with you that the SPI bag is good investment. Can I know to what extent can we get it washed? Did you soak the bag wet or merely wiping the surface? I do that once in a while this yr when he gets crapon marks on them. However I intend to have it a more thorough cleaning this yr end. Any advice?

Hi KingRascal, u don't hv to soak the bag. Juz splash thoroughly with water, srub with detergent & rinse well with water again..there u are, a brand new bag! I usually wash 1-2 times a yr. Happy washing.. πŸ˜„

Look out for this brand \"Sanhao\".

Brand not so glam but they make a great backpack model which looks well made with quality materials, smooth zippers and have comfortable padded shoulder straps.
Much better than the Dickies bag that my daughter made me buy for her earlier this year.
Big enuff for the biggest school textbook.
Design not bad and logo not too big*.
Depth just deep enough to carry schoolbooks so doesn't look like you're hauling potatoes.
It also comes with a buckle strap to link the two shoulder straps across the chest for a snug fit.

I got it outside Fairprice Downtown East a month ago.

Tremendous value for money at $20.00 only.

*kids nowsadays can be brand conscious but they should know by now everything's made in China these days. Why not get a pukka China brand?

                Ok Thanks Jennifer.

Will check out the POPULAR brand separately as I remembered
there was 2 versions, one small the other big. And both POPULAR and
IMPACT brands are light on its own...
                :thankyou:

Is there 2 sizes for the Popular house brand? I could only find the large one at Bt Timah Plaza, Bt Panjang Plaza and Lot 1. 😒

Not sure, as the last time I shopped was a year ago and was so
overwhelmed with the range available. So just grab one at
Metro, but turned out to be oversized! :stupid:

Anyway, if I spot the POP brand bags again, will update you!
Throughout the year there is none on sale at branches in my area,
so weird. Guess they only sell school bags during year-end! :frustrated:

                  Personal preference is backpack type.

                  More balanced in weight distribution.
Easier to walk, no obstruction on one leg.
Things can be kept neat, no bending.

Sling bags seem more suited to Secondary teenagers? πŸ˜‰

Yes, I noticed the discount comes at year end only. Usu. if you spend $x, then entitled to buy the POPKids bag at a much lower price.

Last year, I passed this offer, thinking that #2 can use the hand down bag from #1. Happily used for a few months, then a sch mate pulled the zip and torn the zip off. #2 insisted I buy another bag that night, so I paid the original price of $80+ for a POPKids bag. Some weeks later, I found a shop that repairs bag zip and got the zip changed for $8. Now he is using this bag again with a brand new zip. :stupid:

SPI bags are generally more heavy.

                        FYI …
In June 2010, NIPAK will introduct their next generation of SystemBags that will come equipped with an enhanced weight management system guaranteed to improve carrying comfort while offering greater spinal and back care.
