Parents, not enrichment centres, are key to result

Seriously, if I were to open a class for parents on how to teach Maths how many of you will sign up?
I \"passed\" my PSLE 3 times so I won't be signing up but Math for parents is already a product on the market. I paid for 12 hours at Onsponge and it was money I felt well-spent. After that, I could effectively help my DD and other parents too
while working full time!
BTW, not only Mummies were there at onsponge, a couple of Dads and one grandpa attended the class too [I think someone said the grandpa's daughter in law sent him - now why didn't I think of that]! :rotflmao:
Parent workshops for compo and compre/cloze are also in demand - I put together a number [ yup - so desperate to learn to teach was I] to share the resource around.
So tutormum - step right up - a ready market awaits you!
PS. Saw all the postings about chwee kueh and have to add that yes, PSLE was seriously detrimental to my waistline too ! T score go up, waistline also increased! Now paying for it \"big\" time! -

I don't know about other mummies and daddies. For me, i have attended maths courses that are meant for primary schoolers. Those courses are up to 12 hrs. Have completed the maths assessment on my own because i found the given answers are all wrong.
If the school can't teach, i just do it myself. -

Yes, I've noticed some has more errors than others, and I have been avoiding some publishers... -

Should i start a thread \"Assessment books with wrong answer\" ? i feel all parents should be aware of this. -
Yes, it is a good idea.
May be we can even split by subjects such as Eng Math Sci etc and if possible with different levels.
Thank you for your effort

The last few posts on this thread reminds me of my P6 year when mom wanted me to take up tuition to make sure I passed. Guess what, my tuition teacher marked me wrong for a science question which I distinctly remembered was what my science teacher taught me in school. Even the assessment given by the tuition teacher had the wrong answer. I argued with my tuition teacher but was laughed at. Soon, I had the same question in my test papers and I got it right. I showed it to my mother and tuition teacher and that was the last time I attended any home tuition lessons. Mom was still worried since I had no extra help, but I proved to her I pay attention in class, and understood my work - but most importantly, I learnt not to fully go by model answers and not everyone who call themselves teachers are reliable.

tuition in your generation is luxury ah! :rahrah:
i always envy my classmates who had tuition.
i only had 1 thin science guidebook and 2 assessment books (compulsory needed by teacher) for my PSLE.
by the time it reaches my turn to take psle (3rd kid) my parents said assessment books were waste of money.
