      Hi all,

      Pls help!!
I am indecisive of where to enrol for my DS in 2013. Maris Stella or Taonan?

Retired Paternal grandparents - stay with 1 km of Maris Stella.
DH & my address register with paternal grandparents.

Retired Maternal grandparents - stay within 1km of Tao Nan.
We are the HKHK member since 2007.

If i choose Maris Stella, i will belong to the 2C phrase.
If choose TaoNan, i will belong to 2B phrase.
What are my chances for both choices?

i thought if you use caregiveer's address, even if you are within 1km, you are considered 1-2km? For Taonan, i think you will be considered 1-2 km and in this case, i dun think you will be given a recommendation letter even though u might be long time member cos i understand for phrase 2b for taonan, all balloting done for <1km

Also, do you have more than 1 child? If you have a ds n dd - then it might make more sense to go to Tao Nan - otherwise you will have to go through the registration process again.....

Btw, my ds1 is in Maris Stella 🙂

I think as long as it is a good school, it requires balloting... Sad news.. 😞

Yes... but currently only 1 DS. How do you personally feel abt Maris Stella? Cos not much info on school's website.

Persnally I thk it's a balanced-enough school for me. Ds is not overly stressed, enjoys school life, picks up the occassional nonsense but this is part of growing up n so far, he enjoys school which in turn aids his learning.

But then I'm also quite an easy going person so generally I don't get upset abt things easily. 😉

Hi dorisp, thanks for your reply.

I understand I will be placed under 1-2 km if balloting is required.
I forgot to mention I have a 3 yr old ds too. Though he can go to st gab( father is an old boy) but would be good if both kids attend same school. So a bit torn.
Can anyone advise if chij oln is a good school? How about st gab? Can’t seem to get much information on st gab.

Hi! My daughter will be registering for P1 (phase 2C) this year. I’ve narrowed the choices to 4 pri schs. Appreciate comments/advice on which u think we shld go for:

                Within 1km:
(#1) CHIJ Our Lady of the Nativity
                (#2) Punggol Primary

                1-2km:
                (#3) Holy Innocents’
                (#4) Xinmin Primary

#1 - sure get in. But I’ve a younger son (4 yrs difference) so he’ll hv to apply another pri sch.
                #2 - is #1 or #2 better academically?
I think #3 & #4 are the more popular schools, but I stay 1-2km. Shld I even try going for them, and if so, is #3 or #4 better?

Appreciate any comments to help in our decision. Thanks!

                  Hi tlmum,

I believe Punggol Primary is better academically than Nativity. Punggol Primary is also co-ed - so that solves your problem with your younger son.

Don’t think you stand a chance for Holy Innocents or Xinmin. Both require balloting <1km for phase 2C.

                    hi,

i’m sorry if i post this in the wrong thread. I tried using the "search" button and it lead me here.

Wanna ask about St Andrew’s Junior. If grandparents stay within 1km, means, i have to register under phase 2C, between 1-2km? what are the chances like?

thanks for your reply! 🙂 Agree with what you said. Punggol sounds like the logical choice. Will try to find out more abt the sch. Thanks! 🙂

Risky. Past few years data seem to indicate the balloting for 2C might be at the <1km range instead.
