Herbie:
Sorry, didnt make myself clear. I intend to start her off with her Pr 6 Maths during weekends so that weekdays she can start to do her assessment books while iI'm at work. Also, I will be getting the Sci Ass Book from Popular where she can start to do her revision for pr 3-5 during the dec holidays. cos i believe when sch reopens, they dont have much time to do our homework. Since Pri 1, I have been giving my dau daily homework for 3 subjects during sch holidays. So left with Chi where there is nothing much we can do.Hi Anxious Mom
To complete the mid year topics by dec. Are you refering to P5 topics? See that really make me kanchang.
But if I start the revision now with my son... My hubby will probably think that I am super KS.
Worst of all is I very kanchang, but my hubby is very relax... he watches TV went he knock off from work and my kids get 'attracted' to the TV.

I think it’s good we share some of our plans. Then we can learn from one another and see what works for our child.
For me, my plan is to let her relax for another 1 or 2 weeks, her last paper was just yesterday. Then we will start to
1. work on the weakest subject first by revising concepts or work on strategies to help pull up the grade for her weaker subjects.
2. complete the P5 assessment books which she has not completed. I bought 1 book on 100 Cloze and 1 book on 100 Vocab which were half complete only.
3. complete the P5 past year papers (left a few Science)
I will just start her with P6 assessment books for all subjects (except Science) around December. After that go for 1.5 weeks holiday in mid December. Come back, must get back to study momentum again, before school reopens. -
EN:
Hi En,Hello
Can I know what type of books to buy in order to kick start revision to prepare for PSLE? Is there a 10 years series book for English, Science and Math?
How do I go about balancing current curriculum and preparing for PSLE at the same time?
Don't think there is 10 year series. But I do know the school will make them buy past year PSLE papers (by MOE) for revision. -
Can we also share what is your child daily holiday working time-table like while you are at work and how you monitor him/her while at work?
Anyone know if P4 Chinese vocab included? -
Hi Lizawa and anxiousmum,
I am letting my child rest for 1 to 2 week to get himself recharge first. Meanwhile let him enjoy more play, watch movis and do some reading. I think he deserve it as he has worked hard for his SA2 which was just over. I am waiting for Popular 20% discount coupon first before I buy assessment books. Don’t think CL assessment is out so soon, probably need wait till school reopen. Anyone know if the discount coupon is out? By subject, can you list which assessement books (by author) you will buy? -
MdmKS:
Will you quit your job, or take no pay leave to help prepare for PSLE? Is it common ?
Rather common among some of my husband's colleagues especially if the child has not been doing rather well in the first 5 years.
THE SAD TRUTH is , it is a little too late to play 'catch up' at this moment if you expect miracles.
Another point to note is the kids are at school most of the weekdays afternoon in primary six, attending supplementary and remedial classes and using all their spare time to complete tons of worksheets and homework.
So , where got time for you???
The scary truth is PSLE preparation starts the moment they step into primary school. BUILD the solid foundation especially in languages and one will not need to worry so much when the DAY of reckoning comes!

If the child has been performing above average. I am just wondering if there is a need to give a booster jab by giving her more support and revision.MdmKS:

Hi All PSLE 2010 mamas,
:lovesite:
Yes, let the kids take a break! My students are taking their break now.
Restart end Nov or Dec.
My girl is only in P1. But, my tuition students are only going to P5 next year. But not sure if any P6 new students joining next year. So good to join and discuss PSLE prep.
Had taken PSLE students in 2008 though.
Good assessments for PSLE I used includes:
Science: Science PSLE Revision Guide by Marshall Cavendish
(use together with the Test papers by the same publisher)
Math: Andrew Er's Worksheets P6
(onethick book for whole year, 3 difficulty levels, with CA/SA papers)
Math: Problems Solving Process by Fabian Ng
(Also very thick one book for whole year, must do small portion everyday, otherwise cannot finish)
I will update somemore next round. And since Chinese going to change
format, need to find out more info and scout around. Then come back
to update here! -
By the way, important to complete entire P6 syllabus before June holidays 2010, even if school has not finish. Otherwise, after June holidays, no more time to digest.
June Holidays will be a time to review whatever P3 to P5’s stuff as well
as tackle other school papers and PSLE past papers.
For EL and Chinese, best to start practicing papers right from the start
of the year.
Hope this helps! -
all.in.one. Thanks for the tips. My dd will be in P5 next year. Thinking of starting her revision in December. Whole of November, mummy and kids resting period. It’s also time for planning, reviewing and fine tuning.
Not very sure how to schedule. Would you recommend, revision to be on weekends (start from which level) and existing P5 work on weekdays?
