Net rumour that Yaw Shin Leong having extra-maritial affair

He did step down from the Treasurer post, but probably still want to hold on to his MP position. So WP got no choice but to expel him.


What made me baffled was that with all the hullabaloo around him, he could still celebrate CNY with HG residents and sang on stage (with his wife clapping for him off stage, no less), as if nothing had happened at all. All for show? :scratchhead:

As a political figure, what he did was something which cannot be tolerated. Keeping silent is not a solution.

Agree with your view. From WP's action we all know it is no longer a rumor. Why would WP expel him otherwise? You think WP did not tell him of the consequences if he had 'no comment'?

From what I understand, SL claimed they asked YSL to address the allegations but he refused. I think that's why WP took some time to respond as they are the 3rd party, not first party. So they cannot refute on his behalf.

By sacking him, they must think he's definitely guilty.

Or was it that LTK abandoned Plan A (gag order) when the storm didn't blow over, and now went for Plan B (said he was waiting for YSL to do the responsible thing and clarify) to pile all the blame on YSL, so that WP can be seen to be on moral high ground? Not impossible. He is, after all, a very savvy wily politician.

But overall, agree that WP has taken a well-calculated risk that makes them look (i) responsible and (ii) gutsy in the “PAP 放吗过来吧！\" sense.

Also heartened that recent occurances have shown that Singaporeans still have high regard for marital fidelity. The sense that marriage is outdated and rampant sexual licentiousness is acceptable (which we get from magazines and other media) might not be so widespread afterall.

Makes white clothes appear whiter.
Haven't seen dis in years.

A man having an extra marital affair is morally not right to his wife and family, what more a politician and from the opposition party. Keeping quiet is not a solution either…strangely it has taken his party so long to decide what to do with him. He owes the public an apology, especially Hougang residents who voted him in.
