Hello,
Any parents here whose kid is in P4.
I would like to check if your kid is having as many homework as mine.
On average, she spends 4hr daily to get her homework done. Or is that a norm?
Also, have anyone raise concern to RVPS on the weight of the School Bag?
Tks. -

Hello,
There seems to be more hmwk in P4 now compared to P3. More given out on Fri for the weekend.
My DS has been given the practice CA1 papers to do over this weekend. This is earlier than compared to last year, where practice CA1 papers were just give the weekend prior to CA1 !! This is much better cos teachers would hv more time to go thru the practice CA1 papers with the students.
How much time kid spend on hmwk is subjective. My DS is very draggy.....he takes ages to complete his work !! I have to keep harping at him to get his hmwk done.
As for weight of sch bag, I have no complains. DS pack his bag himself. It seems lighter than when he was in P3 though....either he conscientiously packing his bag or he just simply forgot to bring his books....though i think its the former
Students do have lockers in sch rite....u may want to make use of that.

oh…did anyone have the practice CA paper for (normal) Chinese?
DS Chinese so-so only…so maybe its just me but the compre part seems quite tough…testing alot more on the students’ understanding of the story & being able to express one answer in own words…
just sharing…there may be external vendor conducting EL creative writing class, in term 2… -
Hi Shandee,
Thanks. BTW, I was wondering when the English remedial will start for P4.
Any idea?
Tks, -
Not sure abt remedial…
Wats the diff btw the terms "remedial" & "supplementary"? -
I thought Remedial are for those students with poorer grades.
Supplementary are for all students.
Well, I maybe wrong. -

For the EL creative writing class, would it be for all levels? Is it part of supplemary? -
Hi Parents
I am currently doing PV at RVPS. Daughter will be going thru registration this year for her P1 next year. Need advice on a few questions:
1) Heard that there is an influx of foreign students in recent years (indo / PRC, etc)?
2) Heard the emphasis now is very much academic instead of character building as I previously thought?
3) Chinese streaming starts at P1 already?
Basically why I choose RVPS is because I have always thought that they are emphasis a lot on character building instead of academic results. This to me is impt as I feel children should build a strong foundation on values.
Why i am concern about the influx of foreigners is because of the location of the school, the income range of these foreigners are generally much higher, and I am concern that it may create a situation whereby there will be unneccessary comparison of the child’s family background. One of my daughter’s classmate’s mother was sharing with me how her elder son (not in RVPS) having low esteem as his peers’ family background are all from rich families and they look down on him as they are hawkers.
Any advice from parents of RVPS?
Thank you -
