I understand each parent concen. So I think it is best to see both side then just base on single side that we always believe it is true!

Recently, we were ask to sign an application form to make payment from our child Edusave Account. Two of the items spell as follows:

        http://i42.tinypic.com/eskn13.jpg\">

I call the P regarding the above mention items, and was told that its kinds of software that manage student Portal, eLearning( distance learning in cause of SARS period) blogging and others. Further more I was told that every Terms the pupils need to make this 2 items again. I don’t agreed with the principle that this 2 software application should be under our account. I reason that this software application it’s a common use software application Like Microsoft office and any many others third party softwareware application. The school should pay full amount instead. The P say he had been doing this for 5 years now and I am the only one to complain. Hello! you could be wrong for 5 years and now I’m kind enough to correct you. To end he say he don’t want to “argue with me” and hang up even I'm still on line. I don’t think this is an argument a discussion or a feedback I suppose.. Dear P: Wonder the purchase of the Netbook can also be under the Edusave Account ??? he will tell you NO because.... this n that. BTW how they come out the amount ??? wonder how much is the software cost? Just do some maths 1500 pupils(Estimated P1 to P6) x $8(Pupils Pay) = 12K(per terms), 12K x 4(Terms)=48K and for 5 years will be 48k x 5(years) = $240K.??(compute base on Pupils Pay from Edusave) a software cost $240K+ +. Anyway this school needs audit !! (misuse our Edusave)

          Mammoth:

I guess there is too much written about the principal so u can refer to those comments. I tend to agree to those negative ones without elaborating more on what my wife and myself have observed personally. The basic rule is dont bother to complain to him unless you want to bring it higher beyond school level to MOE or police (if really that serious).

I believed that is the key statement all should take note before trying to send any feedbacks 😞

By the way, MOE channel may not be working as well, based on what I have heard, since feedbacks are usually channelled back to the school or the P has his own way of dealing with such issues.

I have seen changes been made in other primary schools after feedbacks by parents (my sis's daughter in another primary school) but this is not happening here for sure.

Conclusion for me is just hope for the best that the extra tuition will help my son pull through these difficult years of \"teach less, learn less\". Had wanted to transfer my son out but my wife is pregnant and can't make that extra distance to other primary schools which are quite far away. Sad.

My kid is in North vista too. One day, she came home and told me that the P told them not to say anything bad about the school to their parent, else no one would want to send their child to this school. So I ask her why? She told me that the P said the school needs more children.

Goodness me, I always tell my kid to tell me everything regarding school or her friend so that I’ll know what happen in school(just in case she’s being bullied) But now the P is asking the children not to tell their parents things aboout school. Not a good way to teach children. I didn’t want my kid to hide things from me, so I told her that she’s free to tell me everything about school. Nothing is perfect in this world, there’s always certain good or bad things about certain school. I thought the school is suppose to teach children to speak out?

Anyway, as I have problem with transport issues,as the school buses are not able to pick up my kid at our place, I thought I could say…approach someone for help. One the first day of school, after the briefing, I saw the P trying to mingle with the parents. So I approach him, he told me that he didn’t not deal with this issue and asked me to do to general office…what irritated me was his attitude, he walked away from me while answering me question(his eyes looking the direction he was going to). He should at least have the basic courtesy to finish his sentence before walking away, not even eye contact at all! I didn’t know whether I was too sensitive…I realised that those parents that I saw him talking happily with before I approached him were all well-dressed, whereas I looked like a "maid" (I wore very old knee lenght short and T-shirt that day.)
                ===I hope I’m just being too sensitive======

BTW, $800 for a net book sound expensive to me. We all know how much a net book cost these days, even if it include certain software, it should not be amount to $800. What about economic of scale?

I close both my eye for the above because my kid form teacher is very dedicated to her work.

As mention, yup I agree that netbook cost is on the higher side but no choice lah, have to buy since our kids need to use it.

As for the Principal, just hope he’ll be out soon! Different parents may have different views and the form teacher and our child will play the most important role. So far, my boy’s new teacher is much better now. At first I find that she’s not so capable and the way she answer to parents email is a bit harsh, but after sending her a feedback, she seems much more concern with the students results & daily performances.

Btw, I have also request for transfer, waiting for MOE to reply.
As for the feedback, if you sent to MOE, I think it will really be hopeless as they will pass it to the school to answer to any of the queries, feedback or even complaint… Anyway, there will be another Primary school nearby soon, mayb another year or so, it’s still in constructions (just in front of the Mosque).

So more choice for residents staying nearby.
