The school have 2 breaks: snack breaks from 10am to 10.20am and lunch break from 12.35pm to 1.15pm.

There is no staggered recess, therefore, during break time ALL levels (P1-P6) will be released at the same time.

The pupils have been feedback to parents that the Q at all stalls is very long, sometimes they couldn’t even get their food, even if they managed to but unable to finish on time.

Recess break is only 20mins, if they have to Q for 10-15 mins to buy their food; it is very obviously they couldn’t finish the food on time. Lunch break is 45mins, longer break time but some pupils still face the same problem because there are pupils even teachers jump Q, so for pupils who are less aggressively they lost out.

So I wrote an email; a VERY GENERAL FEEDBACK to the class form teacher last week, regarding my concern about the school snack and lunch breaks.

      In the email I wrote:

“The population of the school is getting bigger, and with only one snack and lunch break for ALL levels, the poor children are facing difficulties to buy their own food. Every stalls Q is very long, by time the children got the food, the time is up….

Will the school consider having staggered recess? \"

The school indeed takes our feedback VERY seriously, so they started to carry out their “INVESTIGATION” without us knowing.

On Tuesday, my child and 5 of her classmates were called up into the principle office. In the principle room, there are 2 VPs, the class form teacher, the class English teacher, of course the principle himself.

Mr. Principle asked the 6 two questions.

1 – Is anyone of here disliking the school?

2 – Anyone of your parents here dislike me?

Personally, I feel that my feedback to the school on the staggered recess and weather we like or dislike the school or the principle is totally a different matter. I was the one who send in the feedback, they should have talk to me NOT the children. Obviously, I AM VERY UPSET AND DISTURBED BY THE WHOLE INCIDENT; I rejected the “invitation” to meet up the principle or VP.

As the school need to “close the case”, the VP called us again yesterday. She has all kinds of explanation on why they talk to the children first before meeting us and tons of excuses of not having staggered recess…The most impressive one is “Due to the school layout, we can’t have any staggered recess because it will be very noisy…”

I should applause to their creativity of explanation! :salute:

I will NOT recommend this school!

I can understand the frustration, are there ways to work around it though,!like bringing their own lunch?

My son is enjoying school life. This is half the battle won as far as we are concern. I will leave him to get his food, he has to learn.
Not defending the school, but how would u go about tackling the issue if the affected students cannot be interviewed?

The school doesnt allow us to pack lunch box for the children. Yes, i agreed with you they have to learn but it is wrong for me to feedback to the school about staggered recess? I thought we were encourage to give feedback or suggestion?of course, the school can interviewed the affect children, but must they be brought to the prinicple office? Can’t the form teacher talk to the affect children 1st and feedback to the prinicple. Even if the principle wanted to investigate personally, does the 2 questions he asked relevant?

While one can try to be creative to circumvent the queue for recess by bringing ur own food to school is a good suggestion, the school should have greater creativity to solve the problem if it really inconvenient the students; especially the younger ones.

What really transpired between the principal, staffs n the 6 students? I hope this is not really what the principal asked of the students.
Anyway, hope something good is being worked out to solve the matter. All the best.

My daughter had also complained that she does not have enough time to finish her food during her lunch break. So I became parent volunteer and observe what happened! I told my daughter it was due to her slowness and wasted so much time playing with her friends before she queue to buy food. Since then, no more complain from her. I also stop packing bread for her 10 O’clock

What I had observed is by 1pm, the bristo is almost no queue by then. my daughter has no excuse to say she has no time to finish her food as I had observe it for a few weeks. It is fair to observe ourself personally then giving judgement base on what our children had said! Which sometimes may not be true!

I understand each parent concen. So I think it is best to see both side then just base on single side that we always believe it is true!

Recently, we were ask to sign an application form to make payment from our child Edusave Account. Two of the items spell as follows:

                        http://i42.tinypic.com/eskn13.jpg\">

I call the P regarding the above mention items, and was told that its kinds of software that manage student Portal, eLearning( distance learning in cause of SARS period) blogging and others. Further more I was told that every Terms the pupils need to make this 2 items again. I don’t agreed with the principle that this 2 software application should be under our account. I reason that this software application it’s a common use software application Like Microsoft office and any many others third party softwareware application. The school should pay full amount instead. The P say he had been doing this for 5 years now and I am the only one to complain. Hello! you could be wrong for 5 years and now I’m kind enough to correct you. To end he say he don’t want to “argue with me” and hang up even I'm still on line. I don’t think this is an argument a discussion or a feedback I suppose.. Dear P: Wonder the purchase of the Netbook can also be under the Edusave Account ??? he will tell you NO because.... this n that. BTW how they come out the amount ??? wonder how much is the software cost? Just do some maths 1500 pupils(Estimated P1 to P6) x $8(Pupils Pay) = 12K(per terms), 12K x 4(Terms)=48K and for 5 years will be 48k x 5(years) = $240K.??(compute base on Pupils Pay from Edusave) a software cost $240K+ +. Anyway this school needs audit !! (misuse our Edusave)
