      Vote PAP:

Bravo...! Well written, HVR...I too am a parent & am very worried about our all too fragile well being, & that of our children's. We could potentially lose all

emmm... this is EXACTLY what all pro-PAP and pro-Singapore people are worrying about...
      Vote PAP:
But, alas, the wealth of the fathers will not last for 3 generations, so the saying goes...we shd forbid this...

emmm... this one I also agree.

LKY succeeded by LHL, will there be a succession to form a '3 generations'?

Well, Singapore is experiencing unsurpassed economic success for a number of years now, coupled with Low Unemployment & increase in median income, I am not al all surprised that many will be caught complacent & may feel that it's ok to experiment with new leadership. I, for one, will not toy with my future & that of my children's...! We shd not take for granted tt since Singapore was recently voted as one of the least corrupt country in the world, under the watch of the PAP Govt, that this will continue to be so, regardless of who governs us...! We, as concerned citizens shd not be deluded, for with different political party comes Diverse Political Doctrines. I'm a firm believer that \" if it ain't broke, don't fix it \", period. By 3rd generation, I don't mean PAP pe se. What I meant was voters. The 1st gen voters saw modern Singapore in its tumultus infancy & it's struggles of which citizens of this 3rd gen hv no capacity to fathom. The 2nd gen had it easier, but nevertheless, had to work through a number of crisis & witnessed how the PAP Govt brought us thru all that & to become a 1st world economy. However, most 3rd gen citizens, born during these somewhat prosperous era, will never appreciate the struggles of the previous generations & their reasons for voting are also colored by their being brought up in these better times, so may be totally careless in their beliefs & may vote a candidate simply because he or she just wants to be a contrarian in action. This is the 3rd generation that I was eluding to. This 3rd gen may very wll bring us back to a past that we don't want to live through again, but may hv no choice...

Technically you can't say 'succession' because LHL was chosen by PAP leadership and not LKY alone. Besides, GCT was sandwiched between them for the term 'succession' to be valid.

You might want to know this is not unique to spore. Bush's father was US president before Bush jr took office. Najib's father was also PM of Msia before.[/quote]U r absolutely right HVR for bringing all these examples up. Actually, if we sit down & consider carefully, we'd see tt there's absolutely nothing wrong with succession if it means bringing well being to us citizens. But, LSL was properly voted in by the ppl of Singapore, period...! However, pls contrast singapore's national reserve of US$300billion with US's debts of US$14trillion(how many zeros are there?). We can now see the merit of having our unique kind of politics...

In case u haven't noticed; married PRC tutor admitted to affairs with YSL. When there is evidence & not just hearsay, it shouts very loudly. But, as u Mdm Koh, have alleged the Choos etc, with their respective misdeeds & accusations of misdeeds, may I ask u if u hv evidence that there is a massive cover-up by the govt or it's a figment of ur fertile imagination? If I know my govt, PAP govt, it has not shrug from its duty of care to the citizens, who hv voted it in. I've never seen the PAP so tentative at addressing issues as I've witnessed recently of how WP hv handled the YSL issue...I just baffled by the fact that LTK, being mentor to YSL, got so impressed by YSL, as to even consider YSL of a worthy successor of LTK, & not even knowing of YSL's double life..it's just very incredible, let alone, unbelievable...! Don't be blinded..vote wisely next time...else u may get another YSL...
          Cool it! 🕺

I wholeheartedly agree with you that YSL has let his family and the voters down in many ways. However, I do not live in Hougang, so I'm not responsible for his electoral victory. 🤷

Anyway, in the past month, he has been punished for his behaviour. He has been expelled from his party, he is about to lose his MP seat and he may have to resort to emigrating overseas to escape the public humiliation.

He's already lost everything, apart from his long-suffering wife. What more do you want? Do a Shylock and try to exact a pound of flesh from him? :scratchhead:

I would also like to clarify that I never said nor implied or intended to imply that there was a \"cover up\". Please be careful with your words. I believe the answers to my questions may have been accidentally left out by the authorities. Perhaps they were not aware that the public would be interested to know. :imanangel:

As for why LTK chose YSL, it could've been an honest misjudgement, just like the misjudgement of those guys who promoted the corrupted CPIB officials to the top positions.

i find it strange that people keep saying that ltk must know what his subordinates are up to. Hello, even your own kids, you may not know what they are up to outside. If he wants to know, then he pronably need to employ PI.

That's where people are mistaken. Pro govt doesn't mean pro PAP. If one day another party can form a better govt, we should vote it in. Like you, I am just worry we might vote in an incompetence party to replace PAP govt. CSM and Sylvia Lim look promising but you have to really worry when someone wish and express their desire to see some pretty opposition faces in the parliament.

Should have more faith that we (KSPers) are not daft and will not vote in people whom we think are 草包 unless this 草包 got voted in by GRC...

We are all pro-Singapore. All 草包, whether they are in the PAP or whatever camp, have to get out instead of otherwise...

I'm with HVR on this. I will vote for which ever party that is able to take care of my family's welfare & ensure our relative well being. Currently, that happens to be the PAP Govt. Now, even LKY hv hinted that the status quo may change in the future, in the form that We may see a non-PAP govt ruling Singapore. We, the citizens hold our future in our own hands. Who we vote in, we live with for 5 yrs. Sometimes, we ought to use our brains more than our hearts when we choose our leaders....

What YSL did, his EMA, with an active WP member, no less, is I believe not easily camouflaged. It's hard to mask affairs of the heart. YSL's fellow colleagues wld surely hv spotted it, or suspected some impropriety, but may hv just conveniently dismissed it. Anyways, my take on this was due to the fact that LTK was a mentor to YSL, & shd thus know YSL pretty well...! U r however, right by saying that we may not even know what our kids do outside of the home... Well, therefore it behooves us to be responsible parents in inculcating right values to our child from young, no excuse. Ask yourself, how well do u know your child? Do u know when he or she is lying to u? How well do u know ur leaders? Well, u know them by association & through time testing. The current PAP Govt have stood the test of time & hv proven itself. Not saying they r perfect, cause as humans, we r not perfect, but it's the best we've got...!

I didn't read any news about the private tutor or any other women besides the WP party member. IMHO, EMA is not a crime so why did he have to skip town? :? Unless there's more than meet the eye, no need to run what. Of course he may just feel that there's no more future for him here. Seems to be a very high price to pay then. 🤷

High price or no price to pay, by running away & to the dismay of LTK, who probably only knew of this fact through the media, show how lack of respect he is towards his mentor, LTK & to the party tt helped him secure his MPship, gives a very clear picture of who YSL really is...! In my humble opinion, EMA is a crime, albeit of the heart. By acts, YSL has wrecked not only the bond & trust in his family, but also that of the women's families. The reason that some of us may feel EMA is not serious, is because we have been desensitized by TV, Movies & the Medias, whose programs promote EMA, & even glorify & glamorize tt...\"till death, do us part\" has no more place in our thought processes. Really sorry state....
