      Hi Cherrygal,

I just enroll my son to childcare centre full day. but keep falling sick so his attendance is very poor.

maybe after plus & minus he only goes for 1month or less.

My son sings very well & label flashcards or iPhone apps flashcards very well. He already noe A to Z, all kind of shapes upto Octogons, knows what is shoe, knife & all household things. he can draw M . or A or draw a potatoe.

He jus don interact & did not involve us in his playing, always like to play alone. solve problem himself. hiaz. We always cheers him whenever he self entertain himself…and usually i jus cheers looking at my laptop without looking at him…

he don’t request , he will just go take himself if items are within his reach or he is able to open himself. but if things he can’t reach or open himself, he will request either bringing me to the item or bring the un-open container he will ask me to open. either by gesture or simply words."i want"

his eye contact is poor too. only recently improve when he start day school. but still quite poor.

He is a smart boy. Dun worry too much. Just talk more to him. Kids this age like parallel play. It’s a stage.

will early intervention help him not to shake, spin or tip toes?

Hey Helplessmum3, you are not helpless at all! Your child is still so young, there are plenty you can do. First, put that laptop away, everyday, until he goes to bed.

Then, pay some attention to the kid and plan some events with him. He is only 2.5, there's so much time! I'm sure he and you will be just fine. Don't let your guilty conscience affect how you will treat him. He doesn't sound that bad to me. In fact, he sounds very intelligent. Spend more time with him. Don't end up like http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/southkorea/7376178/Korean-couple-let-baby-starve-to-death-while-caring-for-virtual-child.html

This is also probably the last post I will do here in KSP until the next break. So till then, see you folks! It had been a great break here in Singapore. 🙂

Think what u can do now is simply talk to him more and play with him. My son is also like yours. He can self entertain and he reads by himself when he was 3+.

Don’t let guilt get in the way. Nothing beats having personal contact. No matter how much therapies or with a label, it won’t help him unless u make the contact with him. Spend some time with him everyday. Send him to sch.

Do u have another kid? My son got a lot better after I have my younger gal. They now talk and play with each other.

Then maybe u should get help. Like a part timer to do the chores.

Having a second one helps. They entertain each other. If he is the only one, u will have to find more ways to get him to interact. My no 2 is totally unlike no 1. She is chatty and talks all day long. 😛

I understand how frustrating it is coz my boy also never respond to me in his younger days. He even refused to let me hold him or hug him. It took a lot of rejections before I got accepted and now he will hug me readily. My boy didn’t talk till 2.5 yrs old either. When he was 2, I sent him to a daily playgroup becoz he was too much on his own.

I think there will come a point when u will probably question yourself what is important to you. I gather that u are very worried about your son. I know of many super moms who work, handle household chores themselves, cook dinners and take care of their kids. I’m not asking u to be like them. I can’t either. But some things will have to give. Like washing once a week, leave some chores undone. It’s more important that u spend the time with your son, rather than doing those chores. Get some games that u can play together. I know some pp like us don’t really know how to play with kids. Games help. Like whack the aliens, fishing, hang the monkeys etc. it’s fun for them and they learn to take turns too. At the same time, u can talk to each other. Do some pretend play. That’s essential for their dev too.
