Animal involved in car accident
-
Recently Remy Ong allegedly drove over a pregnant dog, and then left the scene.
According to the report, Under the Road Traffic Act, those involved in a hit—and—run accident could be fined up to S$3,000 or jailed up to a year.
This applies even if the victim is an animal.

My question is who can we call and where can we send the injured animal to?
Some of us are afraid of dogs, so transporting it in our car to the vet can be traumatic.
What if the animal is a small one ,eg a cat or rat and it is killed on impact?
Must we dispose of its carcass?
Sometimes it is dangerous to stop in the middle of an expressway to do so. -
From the radio - 100.3 yesterday. Think animal protection is only for certain animal only, like dog, cow, pig… many more I forget.

As what no. to call, this is what I am thinking too. 999? or 995? -
Same question I raised in another forum some yrs ago. What are we to do when we hit an animal, espcially someone else’s pet, when they stray into the path of your car?!
In this report, what is clear is that you have to stop and render assistance. What is not clear is the defintion of ‘render assistance’. -
I really think the SPCA or some animal group authority should come up with guidelines. I think I am going to write to SPCA to ask for advise. I am rather disturbed by the gravity of the situation.

Am curious…I am one who actually blackout when I see bloody scenes.
Then how? -
I have mixed reaction over this...
Same punishment if hit-and-run over human and animal?
Either animal's life very important now?
Or human's life less important now?
It's an expressway... Anyone walking across shld be charged with jaywalking instead.
But animal... How?

Why does this surprise u?
I've seen some people probably treating their pet dogs better than their parents, walking with them every evening! -

I am also very confused.
So if animal is big eg dog, cow, pig then we have to render assistance.
If small animal then no need?
Why the double standard?
I already emailed SPCA and waiting for their reply. -

go check under your tyres ..... there have been a few dead ants that you ran over and did not render assistance ..... you are hereby charged under the Road Traffic Act ....... :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:Daddy
