      Joule:
don't drink latte, drink kopi will do

Disagree with this one. The quality of the kopi is getting worse.

The kopi quality did not get worst. More of the kopi kia don't really know how to brew properly. Me avoid the kopitiam, air-con food court, the kopi kia almost like robot making kopi.

Latte always better quality, because so did the price rise... Kopi every few year 'review' price (like salary review), still cheaper but quality will getting worst with over-commercialization or rise in milk/sugar etc...

Nowadays, good coffee either got expensive or the quality not what it used to be....

These days, alot of foodcourts employ 'unqualified' kopi-barista...many try to make more cups with same amt of powder...resulting in tasteless coffee.

Nowadays, thanks to the kids, usually donch have mood to sit down and sip coffee leisurely 😉 so can skip the branded coffee joints.

I hope that local 'kopi-barista' would abstain and never use fructose or any other substitutes for plain sugar as I think they are unhealthier choices. We have now learnt that margarine is likely an unhealthier choice to replace butter, which was original considered unhealthy. It may just be a case of 'out of the frying pan and into the fire.'

From wikipedia, 'Commercially, fructose is usually derived from sugar cane, sugar beets and corn and there are 3 commercially important forms. Crystalline fructose is the monosaccharide, dried and ground, and of high purity. High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is a mixture of glucose and fructose as monosaccharides. Sucrose is the third form. All forms of fructose, including fruits and juices, are commonly added to foods and drinks for palatability, taste enhancement and improved browning of some foods, such as baked goods.'

Please read 'Mind Your Body' dtd Feb 23, 2012, pg 9 for more information on fructose. My take is for most people in their late 40s onwards, consume less, if not totally avoid, fructose. The reason is quite obvious to most. Also read pg 10 regarding an article on 'Diet soda raises risk of heart trouble.' So, not everything that is 'diet' is good for our health. Living in the 21st century, we have to be even more discerning.

Married people like us will find it hard to measure frugal as a singular experience. It is a combined decision of the couple to decide how much is frugal. So get agreement from your other half on your spending habits will reduce stress even before the "frugal" target gets set. Hehehehehehehehe
