Very true. There are very nice PRC here and also in their country. I was very impressed when in Beijing and Shanghai for holiday in the past, the locals would usually give up their seats for DS2 (about 4/5 years old then). Definitely not to be expected in SG.

Actually, only some PRC are not nice, there are still good ones around. I was at a foodcourt ordering packed rice for my kids. As I was breaking up 2 packs into 3, I asked for an extra empty box. The lady, think & think & I was wondering what's taking her so long to collect $ from me. Just then her colleague went into the kitchen, she quickly pass an empty box & asked me to keep it quickly & not let her colleague see it. She thot I had 3 kids & din want to charge me extra for the box. I was pretty touched. I was actually prepared to pay the extra few cents, but I believe she wanted to be nice & so I accepted it so as not to dampen her joy in helping someone. It's very trivia, but I appreciate her little gesture still. You know, sonetimes the non-locals are really more jovial....I often feel like slapping our own people  😉

Agree not all Foreigners are 'bad eggs\" 人都有良心,人都有感情,人都有人性,
What sadden me is highly educated people absorbed so much ink....
        Character is so unconsiderated...

Scholars are supposed to be highly knowledgeable and have a good characters... :nunchuk:
They are supposed to lead our country in the next generation.....

Be the good example to the younger generations....
        :salute:
What is happening to these Educated People?? :skeptical:

Something seriously is incorrect in Singapore Educating system... :gloomy:

Agree there r nice PRC ard. Experienced it myself.
I nvr agree with d generalization dat all r bad hats.
ur recollection here makes me ponder abt whether their psyche,
esp d older generations who were scarred by d Cultural Rev,
affects their thinking n d way they act.
m referring to d part about acting on d sly even when they only hv gud/kind intentions.

Since this 孙旭 guy has retracted his post.....guess he knows the seriousness. Hope he truly regret & not bcos' he know what happened to the 'black lip' PRC who flee home without completing his studies. But I will remember his name.

It's really very sad for SG to give scholarship to such people. Too many people dun know how to 饮水思源, that's why the society is turning to be soooo.......
SG is actively promoting scholarships in China, India, Asean etc.
While d gahmen's objective is understandable, sad to say, some of these ppl r gaming d system.

Shouldn’t we be reflecting on our own system because of this episode?

We seemed to have given him nothing other than a good education, nothing else enriched. Is our system also churning out many of our own with the same lack of gratitude attitude? Is this kind of arrogance prevalent among our top perfomers in schools?

Or is it because as a PRC he was never really accepted by our society? Is this a case of overflowing resentment because of rejection?

                Raysusan,

think NUS spoke to him as well, and not forgetting Alex Tan also said he will make a police report , citing criminal intimidation, hence his turnabout decision to apologise . :siao:

道个欠就可以一了百了吗?屁可以乱放,话不可以乱讲。。。He deserves to be expelled for such recalcitrant bad behaviour, which must have seeped deep into his psyche.

He also deserves to be disciplined for creating a bad name for other PRC students, many of whom are sincerely working hard and grateful for the opportunity.

One bad egg should not be allowed to ruin the whole basket. I have many PRC friends, and also appreciate the PRC staff who give good Tui Na service, who are polite waitresses. Actually I also prefer friendly Filipina wait staff than the black-faced grumpy locals.

Whilst I agree that a balance needs to be struck and their inflow numbers regulated so as not to create severe employment issues, there are many immigrants that are pleasant, and who help keep costs down. Those people who keep complaining about foreign workers don’t understand that if we employed all locals, their restaurant costs (amongst others) would probably double.

Agree. Somehow or rather, the locals tend to have charcoal bitter look & the impatient tone u get from some really spoils your mood sometimes. (applicable to more mid-lower outlets, not restaurants).
