      Hi "Song22";"Kamom",

                Hi,

My son got a silver in SMO Junior 2011 When he was a P5 boy. He got 106.5/150 in AMC 10B. His dream school is NUSH. But he did not well in NMOS 2011 because he was too nervous. He also got a silver in NMOS 2011. May I know how many percentage if he apply NUSH DSA?

For this year AMC10B, my son did 22 out of 25, and got 17 questions correct, left 3 questions undone which could 1.5 mark for each question.

                    Dear "leexue_dwx",

                    Congra for his Achievement Roll!!!
Where is your ds studying now? Where he gets the OM training from?
Is he being invited into Einstein Club?

He had a very strong OM base…calculus, trignometry, vectors, matrix…etc…
Try to get Platinum for SMOPS & top 20 in APMOS.These are
very heavy weight one.Others like UNSW, ACS,…
Collect all these OM cert. and you will find that these are very
                    important after you are admitted…etc…
He got high chance for DSA NUSH…but pls. note below…

For NUSH DSA, they will NOT ask to submit your certificates of achievements.
(Not like other IP schools, students queue up to submit first…then take tests)
You MUST pass the selection tests.
Then qualify to selection camp(8:00am-1:30pm++), this is final determinant
based on the assessment, you either get CO or WaitList or reject.

Mentor him not to get nervous during the selection test…
If he has been practising and training regularly, he should be able
to pass well. The selection camp is totally different…you will be placed in a team
and conduct "station-to-station" experiments, proposal, presentation, computation, Q&A discussion, team-work attitudes…etc…
Read more on the physics and curious science and logic thinking…

This is a stressful year for your ds…but he will find accomplished
after he got Confirmed, and will have super confidence to handle PSLE.

                      Hi Coddington,

                      Thanks for your information.
My son is in a very normal neighbourhood school now. He got MO training from Maths hub last two years. In Maths hub, he finished MO training of P5, P6, SMO Junior 1, SMO Junior2 (first 2 modulars). We stopped his training in Nov 2011, because his english is too weak.
Last year , after NMOS result came out, I applied Einstein Club for him, but did not receive any reply from NUSH. So I don’t think the medals can help him for the NUSH DSA. I am not sure that he can get platinum in SMOPS, because he can’t take pressure.
For NUSH DSA, I am worried about Science, because I heard it covers secondary level. I bought science textbook(secondary 1) for him, he said that was too deep for him and could not understand, he just threw them away. His English composition is much better than his paper 2 (only can get 60+/95), can get 30+/40. His Tscore for 4 subjects can get 240+ to 250. His position in his school is from 12th to 18th. I heard that NUSH need you get 245 or 250 for PSLE Tscore even you have got a CO. Is that true? I also heard that NUSH will estimate your Tscore, if below 250, you only can get waiting list letter(even you are top 30 in NMOS and top 40 in APMOS and a member of Einstein club ). Unless your PSLE result comes out and is above 250, the waiting list letter can be converted CO. Really?

Once u accept the CO from NUS High, u will be admitted into NUS High as long as u qualify for express course in sec sch.

I believe that those on WL will only be accepted if there are vacancies due to students with CO not choosing NUS High when they exercise their choice in Oct.
