they don't just do what the pple tells them to do.. they \"feel\" what needs to be done.
And if they do something that 'feels' wrong to you and me, is that acceptable? In the name of good governance?

Eugene, the old RI principal, has joined SDP? :?

I think the budget is largely conservative and roughly in line with what the PAP has always done. I don't feel that it's a populist budget. Since populism has become a dirty word, that's a good thing.

This is what the saying goes \"Damn if you do, damn if you don't\". It confirms my opinion that the opposition is trying to find fault with the govt no matter whats. 🤷

          BlueBells:
If the govt is trying to make good on some of the propositions raised from the last GE, why can't it be acknowledged and move on? If govt considers the proposition is beneficial and implements some form of it, they say govt is bending to populist demands, if not, then the govt is not listening hard enough to the voices of the people, hence the need for alternative political voices. Either way, I see the govt is caught between the rock and a hard place. Very puzzling to me. :?

If a minister who takes public transport regularly stands out and shout \"you can get on the bus/trains, its whether you want to\".. It will silence any critics.. no one would challenge it.. if someone who lives in ivory tower does the same thing.. prob he/she should be stoned..
He never said that. It was some SMRT person.

In today's ST, SDP's Eugene Wijeysinghe says that the budget has a 'gradual move to populism.' He is concerned of a 'mindset that is willing to play politics with the nation's resources'.

This the same SDP that backed TJS on his $60bn a year expenditure at last year's GE?

When the oppo moves to the right of the PAP, something must be going right.

I guess you read in wrong context liao..

I meant, they need to walk the ground and \"feel\" (experience) the ground.. like taking MRTs and bsues and experience what the populace experience..

not literally asking what pple feel about them ( of coz, that has to be done too but that is not my main point)

so.. I wouldn't answer the 2nd part which has too much implications.... different pple hv different views.. who is right?, very difficult.. but each of us can just voice our opinion..

But I'm just making a point.. \"IF\"..... and is not quoting a fact.
