What is L1R5?

If you choose to do 3H2 and 1H1, you cannot drop one H2 subject if you cannot cope with it. Hence either you do 4H2 (drop or downgrade to H1 at Year 2 if you cannot cope) or choose your 3 H2 subjects carefully. No subject is easy in JC, whether it is H1 or H2. Your O levels results are impressive, hence I believe with more hardwork, you can do equally well in A level. You must have confidence in yourself.
Thank you very much for having faith in me.Yup I agree with you that every subject in JC is tough and requires lots of efforts but I'm all ready to face that. And by the way,my results is not very impressive as my prelim results was better than my actual O level results:(But I will work very hard for A level:)And sorry, may I know why is so many students in JC taking PCME?(I asked you because I feel that you're very knowledgeable about JC curriculum)thank you very much. -

Absolutely, every student should choose the subjects which he/she feels more interested in and more confident in scoring as everyone have different intellectual abilities. If the student chooses the subject that suites him the best,he will feel more comfortable studying it and will eventually score better and vice versa.verykiasu2010:
if chosen 3H2 / 1H1 and worry cannot cope, how to ever choose 4H2 first then drop to 3H2?
This is true. But I have seen cases of students who did well in A levels as he has choose the correct subjects.
I believe Nicole will be able to make her own decision and choose the subjects she likes and work hard to get the results she wants. -

Please do not get the wrong idea..I didn't mentioned that I can't cope with 3H2 and 1H1 subject.I'm just thinking which subjects to be included in my 3H2....And someone kind enough out there is giving me suggestions on taking 4H2... -

no worry, not referring to you as in can / cannot cope with 3H2verykiasu2010:

i find it illogical to suggest taking 4H2 so that if cannot cope with all can drop to 3H2, while taking 3H2 if cannot cope cannot drop any H2 subject ........
the more is not the merrier, taking more than one can cope will mean insufficient work on each H2 and result in poor grades in all 4 H2 subjects ....... and if any of the 4H2 is neglected from the beginning, might as well just begin it with 3H2 and do well in all of them, and maintain a good track record instead of dropping a subject in year 2 -
OO… i make a mistake here. Should not be take 4H2 and drop to 3H2. It should be downgrade the weakest H2 to H1, i.e. from 4H2 to 3H2 and 1H1. You need three H2, one H1 subjects, General Paper (GP) and Project Work (PW) to apply to local university.

Absolutely nothing wrong:)I understand what you are mentioning by 4H2 dropping to 3H2.3H2+1H1 is the normal combination for almost all JC students:)4H2 is for those who are of high calibre and those who wish to have a higher chance of applying scholarship.
Just for your information,I'm considering between PCME and PCMG:) -

in fact some JCs are still suggesting just take 3H2 + 1 H1, and if you do well in any of the H2, you may be offered H3 for that one subjectkoguma:

for scholarship purpose, 3H2+1H3+1H1 is better than 4H2+1H1, assumiing a student spreading too thin on 4H2 and not able to shine well in any H2 subject -
I’m stunned to learn that L1R5 is a total of 6 subjects! I had thought it was 5-- which had already seemed like a tall order! So basically need 4 A1s and 2 A2s if targetting for a 8 pt score!! I truly wonder how some kids can get 8 or 9 A1s!! I would applaud even if can achieve 6A1s.
What about the Chinese language. Must the student pass with a minimum C6 in order to qualify for JC?
Education seems hellish is Singapore! -

You can also get 8 points by scoring 12 points, then deducting 4 bonus points from HMT, CCA or affiliation.
Not sure if you need to pass Chinese to get into JC. You need just D7 to get into university.
