MOE should give P1 registration priority to SG kids?

This also explains why for those Singapore who give up their citizenships here, they are usually quite angry people because they have to make such a tough decision(do and never to turn back) to uproot.

Some people convert to Singapore citizenship to enjoy Baby Bonus, ERS (shares), cheaper medical fees and cheaper school fees. In some cases, only one spouse converts but yet the child enjoys.

Yes, I heard of this too. I really do not agree with this one spouse citizenship.
These are really the one that will leave us once they achieve what they want. Personally, I do not mind having foreigners in our schools. But, importantly, Singaporeans should at all times be given priority over them for a place. If not, what is the benefits of calling yourself Singaporean.

Also your children must be in the good school with lots of PR and foreigners first, if not so what if the school has mixed nationalities, your child will still not benefit from it.Besides nowadays a lot of parents send to their kids to enrichment classes, you will find LOTs of PR and foreigners with their kids attending, so if you feel there is an absolute need for your child to mix with foreign children, send them to any enrichment classes and you will find them, lots of them

Actually, why do we need to worry? MOE is doing a good job in this aspect by having immersion programmes even in primary schools! The experience is even better and accurate!

before we fear about not having the opportunity to mix with children of other nationalities, lets start getting to know our very own chinese, malay, indian and eurasian friends first. many of us dont even understand the culture/lifestyle of our very own people and yet so eager to know about someone something so far away.

moreover, having foreigners in the class doesnt necessarily mean all the kids would play together.

i am in favour of disallowing places given automatically to children of pr/foreigners in phase 1 and the alumni phase. the second child of a pr should be in phase 2b onwards.

Foreigners who come - they come with the choices they make. We locals, we have no where else to go. If one of our kids, yes, even just ONE, does not get a place because the foreigner was picked in the ballot, I feel sorry for him - truly sorry.

i am left with no choice but to think this way cos my best fren gave birth 3 years ago to a son. she declared to us that she will apply malaysian citizenship for him(my fren sg and her hubby malaysian) so that her boy no need to do NS.Alas when i asked her later her boy citizenship ,she says sg cos govt says babies born to sg mummies or daddies and born in sg, automatic sg, cannot be other citizenship, she was so pissed. but later when she gave birth to a baby girl last year, no question on citizenship.i was thinking y my son need to fight for people who are other citizenship in case of trouble, i also want my son to be safe wat
