I totally agree with you on this. In fact, it isn't unique to Singapore or Singaporeans either. The lines are becoming blur. A closer example would be sports. President Ma is so proud about Lin being born Taiwanese, and you get the US telling - reminding him that he is American.

Singaporeans becoming US/UK/OZ citizens is quite clear because they cannot return as Singaporeans again....thanks to our policies?? Others can return to their country citizenship....therein lies the difference. I am just being factual here. -

During WWII, a lot of US citizen of japanese descent were rounded up in holding camps. -

i have to agree with 3Boys, this foreign aversion is incredibly narrow minded..like it or not, we will be facing FT in SG unless our government is going to change their stand..
Actually, what irks me is not where they are from. It's their attitude and behaviour. They want to stay here, yet instead of integrating into our society, learning and adapting to our cultures here, they bring with them bad habits and expect to be treated as if they own this place. This is the one major point that I can't stand.3Boys:

from what I gather, we S'porean are \"racist\" & against our own race...where do our ancestors come from?? It is just like if you are in US or Australia etc, some angmohs will be disgusted thinking the Asians want to stay in their countries & get all the soical benefits, yet instead of integrating into their society, learning and adapting to their cultures there, they bring with them bad habits. The angmohs are also racist but at least they are racist against a different race. Seriously tell me how many of your friends who have migrated can totally integrate into their new adopted country? Better don't be too averse towards certain FT cause 20 years down the road, your DS or DH might have one as a spouse!
I can understand the frustrations many born & bred S'poreans can feel but if we throw back the questions to ourselves, given a choice, we will also want the best of both world. If you are a PR in another country, you wil also want to \"make use\" of the system there to benefit yourself and your family too right?
To me, the step that they have implemented to give S'poreans more votes during the balloting process is a good start that they are trying to give more priority to us, S'poreans. No system is perfect and fair... -

Personally, I do not believe we are racist or against foreigners because they are foreigners.
Generally & naturally we are against any one that compete with us and deprive us of what we deem we deserved.
In this thread, it is the PR. In other threads, it is the rich that rent a property within 1km, the alumni that only remembered the school when it is time for P1 registration, the religious & clan members who we are not, the PV who we failed to get selected, the grassroots, etc etc
So any PR and new Singaporean reading this thread, please do not take any comments personally.
