Wait a second - there's a giveaway - Chinese people don't say '等吸光这里的好处先'!!! That's how Singaporeans would say! 😆 BANG! BANG!

btw.. my post is 100% joking only..

      not serious..

I know, limlim. :celebrate: (ok, take back my bullets)

Personally, I do not believe we are racist or against foreigners because they are foreigners.

Generally & naturally we are against any one that compete with us and deprive us of what we deem we deserved.

In this thread, it is the PR. In other threads, it is the rich that rent a property within 1km, the alumni that only remembered the school when it is time for P1 registration, the religious & clan members who we are not, the PV who we failed to get selected, the grassroots, etc etc

So any PR and new Singaporean reading this thread, please do not take any comments personally. 🙂
        :goodpost:

I think you have hit the crux of the matter. It is the total lack of rationality and ranting at anything that stands in the way of parents and their choice school that amazes me!

from what I gather, we S'porean are \"racist\" & against our own race...where do our ancestors come from??
I doubt this statement of yours represent majority of Singaporean as a capacity. Singaporean are pissed with the government policy that do not hold highest priority for the people of Singapore. Rather it comes too easy for FT.
          happy to be mum:

It is just like if you are in US or Australia etc, some angmohs will be disgusted thinking the Asians want to stay in their countries & get all the soical benefits, yet instead of integrating into their society, learning and adapting to their cultures there, they bring with them bad habits. The angmohs are also racist but at least they are racist against a different race. Seriously tell me how many of your friends who have migrated can totally integrate into their new adopted country?
I can speak for myself.....I was in the overseas for a good 10 years and I integrate well with the locals. Knowing that some angmohs are racist towards certain races, I would not be stupid to go against them or incite some hurtful remarks that will make certain racist angmohs to be angrier. However not in the case of FT in SGP. How many news have you read that shows the ugly sides of FT in SGP? Shouting at people unreasonably. Being loud in the public. Throwing their high and almight attitude towards the public. In my nephew's school, there was this FT grandmother marched to the school insisting that a particular local child to be punished by running around naked in the field for accidentally dirty her one and only precious grandson's shirt. Teacher rejected her and she staged a \"demonstration\" by lying on the road. Well this ugly sides just irks Singaporean.

Just like HDB ruling that one must have met the MOP of 5 yrs before one can sell his house, to tackle the problem of shifting house nearer to popular school to move up to earlier phase, one must own the property (not rent) and stayed for 5 years to qualify.

            ......

this is hard to implement, as there are Singaporean of lower income group that do not own any property. And new PR and new Singaporean couple that are waiting or saving to buy their first property.

I am targeting the rich. This can also curb ridiculous property price increases. For lower income Singaporeans, I believe majority of them register schools near their home.

For new PR & New Citizen, they join the queue behind after all true blue Singaporeans which one forumer has mentioned.

Don't be anxious about securing P1 spots, education minister tells parents

                by Hoe Yeen Nie
                Updated 02:19 PM Feb 24, 2012
SINGAPORE - Education Minister Heng Swee Keat has called on parents not to be \"anxious\" about getting their children into primary schools.

He was responding to queries on the ministry's review of the Primary One registration framework.

The current framework is a tiered system comprising six phases.

Priority is given to children who have siblings in the same school, followed by those whose parents are alumni, volunteers, or who have church or clan affiliations.

The same rules apply to Singaporeans and Permanent Residents. Foreigners apply during the final stage.

The ministry recently indicated that it is \"studying various options to improve\" the scheme.

Mr Heng declined to go into details, saying more will be announced at a later time.

But he stressed that parents must realise there are more than just one or two good schools in the system.

He said: \"What we need to do is make sure that we have many more good schools and that we send this message out loud and clear to all parents.

\"The key thing is to understand what the schools are doing, then the parents will be in a better position to choose the school, and importantly, to support their children in their educational journey.

\"It's important to realise that it's not that one place, but there are many good places that we can go to, and any change that we make must take that into account.\"

Generally, PRC kids are 'spoilt' as they are the only child in the family. They may be good in their studies but not in the social and moral aspect. Will this become a bigger social problem in future?

All Singaporean goes to the best school in Singapore while the medicore school are for the PR and Foreigners. Is this the integration that we want? Six years later, the medicore schools produce top students while the 'top' school with all Singaprean slipping down the road.

Didn't we read the year after year interview with top scorer on what made them succeed?

What constitutes a 'New Citizen'? Or should we be upfront and call them second-class citizens....and do they get an income tax and GST discount for not being granted the same benefits?
