      Hi Jennifer,

Thanks. Will try to chill and relax...

Today, the kids had a Road Run. NJC does have a great environment, balance studies and sports. There is a lot of outdoor activities.:)

Want to help a fren find out more if anyone here heard of an MOE new initiative - Music Telent Development Centre? Anyone ds/dd has participated in the programme? If so what kind of time commitment like and whether worth the time spent? Does it add value to the students profile beside get to attend free lessons? understand it is not to substitute cca attendance.

Haven't heard before. A brief net-search shows that it is a programme for bands, centralised at AMK secondary.

Not sure what is the criteria to join and what the benefits are.

For SNYO(singapore national youth orchestra), you get CCA points(and yes, can be used as CCA substitution as it's under CCA branch), plus get a tuition grant so you get to go for music lessons with fees reimbursed to a certain amount.

Any tips on how to cope with IS - chemistry in JH1? It seems like quite a challenge to cope with this subject.

            .
            archie2:
            Seeking help.
My girl in JH1 got problem with the subject \"critical thinking\"
Anybody (especially senior) care to let me have their old pass year work on this
            subject for my review.
            Please PM me
I'm sure the school gives them enough leads and material to work on. If unsure, please do discuss with their classmates or seek teachers' advice. My ds has approached teachers on several occasions, and for one of the subjects, the teacher(s) did arrange sessions to work on individually or in small groups.

So make use of the school teachers/resources available lah.

The curriculum is quite specialised so except for subjects like Math, I think you won't find many similar assessment materials outside in shops. Nor would the students have much time for tuition.

Chemistry and physics, being traditional subjects, we can find sufficient resources and books. Of course, they are new subjects to the children, but atleast we can help them to find right resources or we can teach them if we are science graduates.

But non-traditional subjects like \"Critical thinking\", \"General Arts\" confuse my DS as well me. I guess, after some time, we can cope.

Just wondering, if other IP schools are just as stressed? Anyone has insights to share?

Heard that HCI has been asking the year 1 to write 500 word Chinese essays...
