        IDad:
        vicki:

Wah!! I sure hope they dont remove the siblings phase!! I have 3 kids! N I cannot imagine the logistic nightmare n the escalating cost I would have to go through if this scheme is removed n my boys suay suay don't get into the same school!!

Imagine!! New uniforms!! New textbooks (if different authors are used)!! Mad morning rush!!

        Eeks!!! ;(

        Pls keep this phase!!!

Exactly! Of all the phases since time immemorial, this is probably the only phase that did not chang much.

=>phttph, can you see how ridiculous your suggestion is? To compensate for the 'lose' of vacancy from your phase 2A, you actually thought of poaching it from phase 1 by capping it. I bet if you have a child waiting to enter school via phase 1, you wouldn't suggest capping it...gosh, I'm still very upset how can you be so selfish as to think of such a stupid idea!

Phttph is one of the most helpful parents on this forum.
She is just throwing out ideas which is what we are doing too. Her idea may not be great but to call her the 2 'S' is unnecessary. Some suggestions thrown out in this thread may be fair to some but to others no it ain't.

So do listen to the mod's suggestion.

Phttph is a very active and hardworking forummer who painstakingly collates the PSLE quality passes for a lot of schools on her own accord. I really salute her efforts for that. You may disagree with her in a cordial way but no need to call her ‘sxxxxx’…

                phtthp:
Parents inside the 2A group already very angry and pissed off - esp. 2A alumni from the 9 GEP schools ! The hornet's beehive nest for 2A is been disturbed. Is like someone shoot a lighted up burning fire arrow with kerosene into the beehive nest. All the bees swarm out in danger, lost their home.

Ya, agree! All the old girls and old boys up in arms already!
To give another illustration, getting rid of the alumni priority is like killing the goose which lay the golden egg for those hot schools. Those calling for the removal actually eyeing the seats and for the \"connections\". No more \"connections\" to rub shoulders with \"powerful alumni\" whats the whole point of this discussion anyway? 😆

Well, I hope you are not referring to me, because if I had wanted to, I would have done it under my own name. Anyway, mods can verify with IP addresses, I suppose. (But I assure you IDad is not me)

Speculative. Does me and my kids no good whatsoever. Its an unfair practice, hereditary like royalty, no place in our society, plain and simple.

                      Agreed 😓

primary school nia, no guarantee that if in a reputable sch, the child will excel. Let them mix and play and learn with different race, religion, intellect from their age group.

still stand by what I think earlier.... personal views nia.

What has church or clan connections anything to do with the child's educational interests??????!!

                      Should be removed totally!

PVs.. to some extend.. could be retained.. As parents who are active in the school understand the school system better.

And, as they contribute to the school (in terms of time and effort), it is fair that some priority be given.

                      This is meritocracy.. unlike connections..

I agree partially, but not the PV part.

All pr schools shld try to be as equal and fair as possible.

Priority should only be given to a) siblings still in same sch and then b) proximity to sch of own residence, not some distant relative of convenience. Period.

We already have this freaking elitist segregation in sec sch, dont let it flow down to pr sch, kids shld enjoy learning, NOT be too overly stressed to outdo each other at such a young age.

Parents are proud when they can send their kids back to their former schools…this is the beauty of being a singaporean born and bred here. this will fall under phase 2A.

Thus, I suggest this phase be kept strictly for Singaporeans…protecting us citizens. As for phase 1, this should also be for Singaporeans
