It is like giving away your birthright and inheritance and then compete on that level. Like my father gives away all his assets and then I try to buy back from open market. Yes of course there is a future. In a future without inheritance you have to start from square one.

Personally, I know a foreign capital market law firm that locate in Singapore but with zero singaporean employees. All their 200 employees are from USA, Canada and India with a law or finance degrees and are paid minimally (fresh grads) US$150k a year. How does this benefit Singaporean except that the government can get abit more tax and to create a false image of high economic growth? and then, there are people complaining about indian boss that only take in indian nationals with MBAs that are paid $6000-$10K. All positions can easily be filled by local grads with MBAs from NUS, NTU and SMU.Why no future? Why so pessimistic? Are we having problem creating jobs for our future generations? The impression is that many foreigners are here and have taken away our jobs but reality is that these jobs are not wanted by singaporeans. For examples, cleaners, sale assistants, restaurant helpers, constuction workers, bus drivers, etc. At the same time, I know of some singaporeans who shun these jobs because they think the pay is not high. So, it's about expectation but can we expect every job pays the same?
Look at the causeway every morning. There are at least 20,000 m'sians making daily trip to work here, can't singaporeans fill up these vacancies? No, we all want higher pay job and there again, where to find a country that the pays are the same for all the jobs? We have to keep our expectation in check because there is no way the employers are willing to give high pay for certain jobs.
The real concern is how to get singaporeans to fill up these jobs. Not possible that everyone is tau kay. We have to accept that there will be wage gap and another concern is that the wage gap shouldn't be too wide. Our Geni co-efficient rate tells us that we are not doing too well in this aspect and I hope the govt is working hard on this. -

Some foreigners are really good but many are really not as good as they claim.
I have not been working about 7-8years but I can feel the changes and pressures that my family & friends are encountering in their everyday working life.
Eg.1 My friend was really upset that her foreign boss was complaining about paying so much for local employees and how much he can save by employing \"better\" foreigners\" etc.
Eg.2 My sil, a senior executive, was telling me that the future will be very tough for the future generation as most of our kids are study-smart but not street-smart like those \"hungry\" foreigners. She is also worried for her only teenage son.
Why is our productivity dropping ever since our government open the floodgate for foreign talents and workers? In the past, our productivity boast one of the highest in the world. Who can say that Singaporeans are less productive?
According to feedback, many of these foreigners are really street smart. they are more vocal and dare to state more than what they know to potential employers and that is why they get the job. Locals are too honest and shy to boast about themselves and it create the superficial appearance that they are less competent.
It has almost created a virulent perception that locals are definitely less hardworking and less capable. But in actual fact, it is completely untrue judging from productivity numbers. By creating diversity for the sake of diversity, the working culture which comprise of workers from a great variety of nationalities, it becomes a headache for management and people didn't realise that productivity actually decrease instead of increasing.
Anyway, do you believe that a degree in NUS is anything less substantial than an obscure university from China, India and Phillipine? -

Even major developed country too have many foreigners living
amongst them something we need to get used to..
But then it is getting tougher in SG because of survival for
the small red dot....but aren't we doing ok ...

The location has got nothing to do with the success of your kids. If your kids are blessed, they will succeed wherever is their country of residence. Of couurse i would prefer my kids to spend some years overseas and eventually come back to contribute to as citizens of this nation.
Just hve to learn to embrace international competition starting from schools. If unable to excel academically, then must be able to compete at professional level in the areas of sports, arts or a trade vocation.
If still unable to do any of the above, too bad hve to be a slave to bankers for a life time!
