When your child is in pain, a mother will find the resources somehow. There are tutors... When push comes to shove, MOE knows that parents are emotionally invested in our child. They make use of this to help their schools do well.doodbug:

The time management tips are very useful, but how many parents will have the time, energy, ability, guts, whatever, to
(1) plan and manage a child's time and curriculum;
(2) suss out the useful from the unproductive resources;
(3) see to the child's physical (enough rest and sleep) and mental and psychological well being;
(4) sieve out useless homework assignments.
I feel errr, pretty inadequate to handle these. No wonder many parents are feeling overwhelmed. -

My DS just came home from his maths P6 CA, commenting that he was able to do most of the Paper 2 questions because of what the enrichment class taught him, not what the school teachers did. Agree. Rest is very very very important. Especially with heavier workload beginning P5.
Weather is hot...kids wake up early (morn school)...back to back lessons. My son must take his nap or else he will be a zombie at 7. He definitely looks more refreshed after he wakes up. -
This is slavery redefined. Our children should not be driven up the wall and then told they are not as good as FT. I hope MOE is listening.

[I am thinking, if school isn’t adding much value to what a child already knows (child may be taught by parents or tutors), and to hothouse with tuition instead? May cut down studying hours from 8 hours to 3 hours daily, and this frees up more time for sports and fun endeavours! Hmm.

Agreed.. Mostly are just ks. Must teach the kids and parents to be less ks. Parents should have more faith in the child and teachers. I am against sending kids to tuitions for all subjects. Cannot be so suay.. all the teachers also no good. Btw why the kids all so guai, go to tuition so willingly. Mine made a big fuss when i signed him up for one.PiggyLalala:

We have two in am session this year. First wake up call is 5:15am and second call ard 5:25am-5:30am, for both to catch the sch bus at 6am. Both girls take turns to wake up at 5:15am. -

Actually I have been wondering if home schooling with help from tuition centers can help the kid to do well in PSLE. That way, by pass the schools and also be able to give kid some breathing space. -
