even our ds/dd can give us the answer..... it's the no brainer question of the year

True. My dd2 is so happy to leave her previous school. She nickname her school 'slow snail' school πŸ˜† because teachers still trying desperately to cover syllabus even after SA2

To support this claim, the easiest way is to be transparent and show the statistics of quality passes (of all schools) over the past 10 years in MOE website!

          Numbers speak louder than words!

To compare elite schools and neighbourhood schools, definitely there is a difference. Among neighbourhood schools, like one of the parent mentioned the hardware is the same, it is the software that makes a difference. The principal and teachers of a school plays a part. If all schools are GOOD schools then all schools should start equal, with GEP classes and same facilities etc.

Do we accept the advertising spin on "All Schools are Same Good"?

What i heard from friend with teacher relative is that elite schools don’t teach. they dun have to becos the kids in class all go to enrichment/tuition. It’s the neighbourhood schools that teach and that gives kids the foundation.

Nonid to talk so much and compare results. I think they should compare the worksheets/materials given to kids for the same grade. Like that can see if all schools are EQUALLY good.

I know the educational resources in 2 elite schools and 2 neighbourhood schools are better than what my DS' school gives out. We can argue till cows come home which school teaches better. None of us were really there. When something is in black and white and clearly superior, it is obvious.

But from what you have related to us...abt school work not marked etc...your son's school really has an ATTITUDE!!! πŸ˜‰

Perhaps the reason why the elite schools are getting those worksheets is coz most of the kids there ALREADY CAN MANAGE, that is to say, the good classes outnumber the average and slow developers. If I am the teacher, it makes no sense if I kept giving challenging qns to kids who are struggling to pass (not talking abt your kid here).

Eg, TLL and the fact that there's entrance test means that they are not going repeat the day-to-day stuff in their classes but they will provide more challenging qns to set their students apart.
