Good advice from mashy. That's what I wd do too.

In earlier years when I've not heard abt biomed yet, I always observed that my kid had meltdowns after a dose of antibiotics, usually Augmentin. Never knew why then.

Later on, when I started reading more abt biomed, I realized that antibiotics destroy not only the bad but the good bacteria too. And side effects result in our kids stimminng, meltdowns, unusual behav...

I'm sitting on the fence here regarding whether to avoid giving antibiotics or not. Think it really depends on the severity of the illness. Parents need to be mindful and use one's discretion.

To play safe, if the child is really ill, then I wd say, give the antibiotics. But to protect the gut, support with probiotics.

The last time kid came down with fever (due to sore throat) and was prescribed antibiotics by doc, I did not give her the antibiotics. Must also qualify that she was older then, abt 12yo i think. But I monitored her closely and was ready to jump in with the antibiotics if her fever went higher. Fortunately, she recovered. 😓 😓

The more I read on web the more I got confuse tat is why ..

Hiaz and really which is corrects or to believe .
Don't worry, helplessmum3. U are not alone. :snuggles: It is a shock and u are still slowly discovering what to do and not do; or what is right and not right.

At times, I'm also just as lost. Sometimes I wonder whether it's normal behavior or asd behavior. But the more u read up, you will slowly understand your child better.

I think with regards to health, it’s important to know what is more critical. For me, I will not hesitate to give antibiotics. The kid could die if I hesitate or even prevent him from taking the necessary medication. I think if there are side effects, so be it. What is more important to me is that he is alive and he recovers from the illness. If there are side effects, we will just have to deal with it later. Or we can simply change the type of antibiotics.

My girl is well sort of back to normal now. Phew. Nevertheless i’m still going to buy her some supplements this Sat and high potent probiotics, 100 billion CFU.

Understand when it comes to certain circumstances, one has to make a tough decision between health and the aftermath side-effects. Agreed that in the event where it is life threatening, we should make the most practical decision to treat their health first. Will take note of that antibiotics in my ban list to prevent further onset again.

Jeez my mum threw away the antibiotic bottles and I need to google for the exact name. It’s something like in glass bottle form with powder inside and need to add water into it.

U need to read up more, increase your knowledge. Do not do things just because others do it. What is helpful for others may not be for you. You will cause you and your son more harm with ignorance. If you don't understand, read and find out more until you do.
