Ichigokun:
Cheena, or Chi Na, pronounced in Japanese as Shina is a derogatory word:
I know la, but, XD I prefer cheena.
\"Shina or Sina (支那 (シナ)?, pronounced [ɕiꜜna]) are Romanized Japanese transliterations for the Chinese character compound \"支那\" which is viewed by most Chinese people as an offensive term for China. Originally a word used neutrally in both Chinese and Japanese, the word gained a derogatory tone due to its widespread usage in the context of the Second Sino-Japanese War.\"
(source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shina_%28word%29)
Suggestion: Avoid using 'Cheena' which most of us take humorously for, esp. amongst Chinese and Japanese - sensitive lah. -
Chenonceau:

The terms \"cheena\" and \"chink\" have been used on Singaporean Chinese as well. It all depends on the context. My friend encountered a racist slur when she was in the US. She was called a chink, among other nasty things. -
I thought ‘tiongs’ are quite common…

If they can cane micheal fay.. what's so difficult to expel sx?The disciplinary hearing for Sun Xu is scheduled to be on 13 March 2012
If the NUS does not take decisive action, it will be another eruption over the internet
two JC boys playing prank by kissing were promptly expelled by MOE from the JC
you guys should email the case precedent to the NUS folks involved in the Sun Xu hearing so that they have some bench mark for ready reference, to avoid \"unintended reality\" (borrow a phrase from a minister when he spoke recently in US)  :siam: :siam:

You broke the rules, face the music. NUS already got a set of rules and conduct guidelines before that sx joined NUS.. it's not something that appear out of nowhere.
The old PAP goes all the way to uphold Singapore & Singaporean's dignity..
Will the new PAP do the same? -
:goodpost: limlim ! :salute: :goodpost:
you come here break SINGAPORE nation dignity and pride, you bear all consequences !
You insult us, the whole of Singapore rise up against you!
Pack your bag, be expelled & go home!
Plenty of scholars readily available to replace you anytime!
This is a life time lesson for you to remember - don't be so arrogant and yaya.
The basic morals you need to be taught, whichever country you go, is ...
HUMILITY, RESPECT and learn to develop and cultivate a spirit of THANKFULNESSS and APPRECIATION for our nation - the HAND that feed you, mouth you, clothe you, educate you, house you with a roof top, from top to toe.
Be THANKFUL, in all circumstances. -

And accountability. Got the guts to insult others better have guts to face the consequences and not run away like a dog with tail between the legs..... Just read about a young PRC man punching a stall holder 3 times for looking at his girlfriend while eating at People's park. They left before the police came and later posted online calling us 'lian
pi tou bu sh e' - we can't even compared to fart :nunchuk: :spank:
