        Take a look at this

Ranking of Schools according to A Level distinctions

        http://neutuition.com/2011-level-results-distinctions/
        Quote from RI's website:

        Performance of Individual H2 Subjects

The class of 2011 outperformed their peers with exceptional performances across the various subjects.

•8 in 10 students scored Distinctions for Physics, Chemistry, History, German, French, and Art

•7 in 10 students scored Distinctions for Biology, Mathematics, Economics,Geography and Literature in English

        Performance of Students
The following is the breakdown of the number of distinctions obtained by our students:

        • 9 Distinctions: 6 students
        • 8 Distinctions: 89 students
        • 7 Distinctions: 202 students
        • 6 Distinctions: 274 students

Even before the release of the 'A' Level Examinations results, more than 40 students have received provisional scholarships from the various scholarship agencies, such as the PSC, GIC and EDB.

RI continues to be the gateway to Oxbridge and the Ivy League colleges - 30 students have already been offered places at Oxford University and 39 at Cambridge University. 51 students have already been offered places at top US universities, e.g. Yale, Pennsylvania, under the Early Decision scheme. This is the highest number of students being offered places at overseas universities prior to the release of the 'A' Level Examination results.

I feel DS always has tests and I become not knowing when they test what, and only know what they had been tested when DS come back and tell me the test scores, and DS now become does not allow me to check his homework unless he has difficulty and wants my help...I feel I soon become out of the picture liao...

          Are your DSs like that?

sec school liao, old enough to handle on his own

there is also a schedule given on when is which test and its weightage toward the GPA

          i hope so, thank you.

Yes most of parents with kids in secondary school will experience this process called 'letting go' 😄 😉 Shouldn't you be glad that he wants to take ownership of his work? And he does seek your help when he has difficulty. Looks like your son has adjusted well and is matured. And why do you want to check his homework :? Even at upper pri school, we don't really check anymore rt. You can't hold his hand till uni, the faster he become independent the better. If he makes mistakes he will learn. Of course we parents must be out of picture and move to support role only. Let go - let him soar to greater heights.

oh ok, thanks, just a bit 失落...

Kitcat, don't worry. Your DS is not the only one like that. My DS seldom tell us that he has test or the test scores. I often get updated on what is happening from this forum and then ask him for further information. He said sec is very different from primary sch. The teacher don't ask them to get parent's signature on test papers. He seems to be enjoying school and cca. So I guess things should be ok.

thank you polkadots...i feel better now...

Haha your DS must have been centre of your life.. Go find another centre eg your DH  or other kids. Your DS comes across as a matured fine young man seeking his independence to be a true blue IP boy :imcool: You should be proud of him and support him.
