:thankyou: My dd did the normal metal braces.

was it fast painless? how much it cost roughly?

Sorry, for such late reply. My dd braces cost $4200 for the package including a set of retainers. She did it at Embrace Dental under Dr Tan. Extracted 4 teeth at one go. The dentist did it as if pulling carrots out from the ground.... really fast. My dd said that it was painful but it was probably more psychological than actual pain since she was given injections to numb the area. The mouth felt slightly sore after that but she could eat 3 hours later. The braces was only fitted following week.[/quote]
I suppose the $4200 is not inclusive of the extraction. So how much did you pay to extract 4 teeth?

Is there any particular reasons why yr dd or ds need to wear braces? I have noticed some of my friends’ children are wearing braces too? However, I do not find their teeth particularly crooked leh?

My dd upper row had few teeth not properly aligned/overlapping and one of the bottom row teeth was growing inward. I hope that she could have nice straight teeth with braces. Honestly, if her teeth is well-aligned, I would never want her to go thru e pain and inconvenience of having to wear braces for 18 months. Sigh...some food like chocolate, sweets can't be eaten as it get stuck on e braces, hard food like meat have to cut into smaller pieces, teeth takes a long time to brush/floss etc. However, the end result of a beautiful smile is worth it.

                Apricot,

I have checked with a few clinics
and their packages do not include
the costs for x-ray and extraction.
So does the $4200 package include x-ray too?
And how much does it cost for follow-ups?

                Would you recommend Dr Tan?
                Maybe can share your experience.

                Thanks. πŸ˜„

$4200 is also inclusive of X-ray and follow-ups. Please note this is the normal metal braces. Dr Tan was actually recommended by a friend of ours. I too checked with other clinics and found that his was reasonably priced as he is an orthodontist not just a dentist. I did a google search on him and his firm and found good reviews on him before I decided on him.

My personal experience with him has been good so far. I found him to be very professional as I was in the dental room when he did the extraction and braces for my dd. Very fast and efficient. He also took the trouble to explain how to manage the braces initial discomfort and brush e teeth. Gave her the special toothbrush/gel for any braces pain. His business is very good, so appointment has to be fixed in advance.

If you are driving, you can park at Intl bldg itself. You can redeemed the first hour of carpark free at the information counter with the receipt. So bring your cash card.

If you feel comfortable with Dr Tan after the Xray consultation, you could opt for your dd to extract teeth immediately (if he has the time). But do prepare your dd before she goes for the appointment. My dd was terrified when Dr Tan mentioned that she had to extract 4 teeth due to overcrowding. I had to take time to persuade her outside the clinic before we went in again. Wanted this done soon so that any initial discomfort my dd may have will not coincide with the coming school tests. πŸ˜„
