      Funz:

What difference does it make if they are local born or not? It still just shows that RI churns out more people good at aceing exams.

No difference... It's merit-based mah... So local kids just not good enough?
Yes I agree.... \"Just shows RI churns out more people good at acing exams\"... only

      🦆 :siam:

Au contraire. RI students excel in much more than just exams.

Aiyah I wouldn’t bother to counter the skeptics. After numerous int’l science Maths awards, competition victories tt cover almost every category imaginable, countless accomplished sportsmen, businessmen, leaders in the arts scene, drs, lawyers, community leaders, playwrights, so on n so forth, people still make sweeping statements tt ri is good at producing only exam smart people. Oxbridge n ivy leagues n scholarship panels must be blur for the past couple of decades then, to time and time again believe in the potential of rafflesians.

Sorry I am quite suaku here...how do we count distinctions? And how to obtain 9 distinctions? 2 H1, 4 H2, and 3 H3s or is it 3 H1, 4 H2 and 2 H3s? Lost touch with the times, heh.

                Chinese
                GP

                4 X H2

                Project Work

                2 X H3

Congratulations Mummy Chenonceau on your girl's fantastic results! She must've taken 1 or 2 H3, is it??
                :congrats:

Even being selected to take 1 H3 is quite a feat already!!!! She must've done super-well in that subject in JC1.

So she did take chinese in JC. My girl just got her CL results. Not good, but she's not going to retake bc she doesn't foresee jumping 3 or 4 grades in it for it to matter re-taking.

Ohhhhhh...  Not everyone takes 1 H3 hah? I was under the impression that everyone takes 1 H3 nowadays. Are you sure not everyone takes 1 H3?

She did so badly in her CL earlier that the school MADE her retake in JC. And she did jump like 5 grades... but that was because she has a group of very loving friends who took turns to coach her and when she got her A, we were all so shocked. So... never say never.

Your girl must be in some very top JC if \"everyone\" takes 1 H3. Nope. Very few take H3 where my girl is. She wants to save the extra 5hours of Chinese lessons each week too, to concentrate on her content subjects bc except for 2 subjects, the rest are at the standard of \"crawling along the ground\".
