One of my students wrote this...

In order to boost employeesโ€™ expectancy motivation, we would first need to fulfil an individual needs first. This is because motivations will automatic occurs and increase when an individual want to achieve his needs. Hence, if employee were to understand the types of rewards that will be given to them, they will be motivated to work hard to achieve it. The five HR and supervisory practices to boost employeesโ€™ expectancy motivation are recommended as follows.

Recognisably English... BUT... what is he trying to say?

It almost sounds like a google translate document. ๐Ÿ˜„

If I understand him correctly, he's trying to say: If you want your employee to work hard, pay him!

I assigned a question on a specific motivation theory. As a student of motivation, he should not even have USED the word motivation. The different types of motivation have NAMES... specific names that point to specific types of motivation, that arise from different causes and have different consequences and effects in different situations. The eskimo have more than 20 words for snow because their survival depended on being able to call the different types of snow different names. You can't properly talk about and study snow unless you are familiar with the different types of snow, what it does, the dangers, the consequences, the causes, the remedies...

He was using the word \"motivation\" left right and centre in the vague sense that any layman would use. As such, his meaning is so unclear and vague that 5 different people reading this piece could read 5 different meanings. You saw the notion of \"pay them\"? I didn't. I looked through it again and couldn't find the words \"pay\" or \"salary\" etc... But because his writing was so poor that even though in English, it meant NOTHING, unsuspecting readers like you will naturally attribute any sensible meaning. Pay is sensible enough.

It's still gibberish even though every word is in English. I vent. Forgive.

Teacher corrected it to \"... sitting myself...\"

              The second is incorrect.

I think the student's meaning: Reward the employee in whatever he or she needs to boost the motivation.

If employee needs money, give more money.

If need a rest, give a break... if need to take off then give off days...etc. ๐Ÿ˜‚
