Maid to get weekly rest days
-
JGMum:
Ummm, I don't get pregnant and expect my employer to pay for delivery costs nor abortion charges also le. these are stuff out of the employer's control.
I mean, would you go for a late night alcohol bingeing session, end up in hospital, late for work the next day, and have the cheek to present your boss with the medical bill??
There was mention that MOM will be looking at employer obligations for stuff employer cannot control. Such should be included....unless of course the employer was responsible to get the maid pregnant. :yikes: -
In Singapore that’s how it works. Everything from the maid will become our problem.

Becos somebody has to clean up the mess and pay the bills. if the govt is not taking it up, it has to be the employers. -
minami:
But should it be 100% taken up by employers? How about the maids \"co-paying\" the bills if they are responsible for the mess. How about the NGOs chipping in to pay as well if the maids cannot afford to? Since they are so passionate about their cause, I believe that they would not hesitate to \"put their money where their mouths are\".peapot:

Everyone deserves their off days be it employers or maids. Since the new rule favours the maids, the Ministry of Maid oops I mean Manpower should also do something to make the employers happy. For eg. reducing the levy or scrap it totally.

Seriously though, scrap the levy totally. Please, MOM, no token reduction like 1% \"discount\". -
JGMum:
yes...seriously! They should scrap the crapy levy! come of think of it, want to take levy yet want women to continue working, want families to give procreate more, yet don't want to give more help. want teach less in school then parents have to outsource. on the pretext to help you manage your CPF monies when age 65. Our country gahment really runS our country like a companies and not from their hearts.tigger88:

On top of scraping the levy, can maid’s insurance follows her thoughout her 2 yrs contract when she change from one employer to another?
Each time a maid tells me she wants to transfer, immediately I lose a percentage of the insurance and I have to come out $ again to purchase a new policy for the next maid. What is this?!?! Government helping the insuance co. to suck $ from employers?!??!?!
Additional cost also includes $10-$15/day for her lodging in the agent’s house while waiting for new employers. Employers are asked to foot these bills when it is no fault of ours but the maid’s, who hope to hop from employer to employer until they are satisfied. What penalty do they have to pay?
