            guess and check...

the columns add2 and takeaway11 must be the same number of sweets...

            pupils]\t6 sweets each]\tadd 2 ]\t7 sweets each ] take away 11
            10\t ] 60\t ] 62\t ] 70\t ] 59
            18\t ] 108\t ] 110\t ] 126\t ] 115
            15\t ] 90\t ] 92\t ] 105\t ] 94
            13\t ] 78\t ] 80 \t ] 91\t ] 80

Ans: 13 pupils and 80 sweets

hope i'm not wrong with my mental calcs

Ms Ong has 2 extra sweets when handing out 6 sweets to each pupil.

To give out 7 sweets to each pupil, those 2 extra sweets will be given out, and she still needs 11 more.

From that, it can be deduced that number of pupils = 2 + 11 = 13.

                  So number of sweets = (13 x 6) + 2 = 80

Err....but I don't know how to express the above mathematically.

This is something like Sudoku I think…

9 squares are arranged 3 x 3. Fill in the squares with digits 1 to 9, not repeating, so that when they are added up horizontally, vertically or diagonally, they add up to the same number.

                      Many thanks!!!

                        Hi

This is more like a brain teaser, not typical P4 maths questions.

                        4--9--2
                        3--5--7
                        8--1--6

The numbers add up to 15, horizontally, vertically and diagonally.

                        Best wishes
