      haha... and did you stop?

I tried pepper but she got rather angry. She say her pencil case now smell like some herbal soup! she says many of her classmates also chew pens and their mothers do not do anything about it.

so her pens continue to have teethmarks. 😞 Can't imagine too all her saliva on the pens after all the chewing and then next day she chew on them again. eeew.

I remember my mum rubbing chilli onto the pencil without telling us...

I vaguely remember I did stop after a while. The shock of spicy chilli after you just got into a daze is a good wake up call! Pun intended!

My 7 year old dd has this habit of chewing her pencils. She does it unconsciously. She can chew until the pencil lead is exposed. I tried putting pencil caps and she bites the caps too. I’ll try your suggestions of applying spice.

                Hi Mrs Seah,

I have tried giving her a few metal pen and pencil and threw out all her chewed up pilot pens! She still sucks them once in a while but because its quite hard, she can't quite chew them. Initially she left a few dents on the metal pen but after a while, i think she stopped chewing but just merely put in her mouth. So maybe that might work for you.

Did you have the habit to chew your pens since school days? I am hoping she will stop the habit before she becomes an adult. 😜

Also, do you know if you are chewing your own pens or do you ever accidentally chew someone else's pens? My dd doesn't seem to care and she chews her sisters, cousins and or even mine pens too! All full of her saliva smell somemore.... yuck!

Yes I have this bad habit since young. I chew anything that I hold (including straw), my office pen have dent on top of the pen.

I tried to be more self-conscious at work lah but still will chew when I am concentrating on something. 😛

Good to hear that metal pen worked for your girl, hope it can change her bad habit with your help. :xedfingers:

The funny thing is my kids don't have this habit. Lucky this bad gene never pass to them. :rotflmao:

hee. yeah. but when you bite, you at least know its your own pen? So will you like accidentally bite your colleagues pen? I found last week in my daughters pencil case, her classmates pens and she was chewing on it. It even had her class mate's name on sticker stuck to the top and surely you can't miss it right? She claims her classmates at her table bite their pens too so it didn't matter. Plus she says their tables pushed together so all their pens always get mixed up! I don't know how she return her classmates pen with all those dents on it but somehow she did! She now has another classmates ruler and she didn't bring home one of her metal pens. :stupid:

Did you bite your waterbottles too? She chewed on her nike bottle. Even her cousin also say how come spray bottle must bite until like that. But she still chews it until one day the rubber part broke! I got her a nozzle less bottle but she is now biting the cover and the strap.

Hope she gets through her chewing phase soon!

Lol!! Spwriting, I don’t have chance to bite other pen because my work desk is not near my colleague, hence no chance for me to take their pen accidentally. Unless they misplace on my desk but… Chances are very low. Kekekekeke…
