I took my son to SNEC pediatric eye specialist. Really the best! I paid private rate but it wasn't that expensive. They did all kinds of tests - it took about 3 hours in all. I think I paid Less than $200....


Don't bother going elsewhere and then have to go to kids specialist at SNEC later again - double the a and twice the hassle. just go straight there...

Sorry, just saw this. Yes, private means I chose the specialist.

Someone else asked as well so I have checked my records. The specialist's name was Dr Audrey Chia. She is the pediatric ophthalmologist specialist. You can check out her profile on the http://www.SNEC.com.sg website.

Just to share. I also brought my kid to SNEC to consult the pediatric ophthalmologist there. Very friendly doctor, nurses and optometrist. Everything done professionally and efficiently. A very good experience. Charges are reasonable - around $130 for both consultation and refraction.

/maybe i should switch to SNEC… Been going to TTSH and also paid specialist rate to choose dr and make appointments. Everything is ok BUT the waiting time is ridiculous… CAn wait like 3 hours WITH appointment, still not our turn… burns the whole day…

If you’re choosing doctors / specialists from there, you can download this new health app - I read in March Her World magazine - called ‘Health Buddy’ . It’s pretty good! Can read up about the various specialists and call directly for appointment . It’s also got general health tips for men, women and children. I think it’s updated regularly, so the content changed from last ween and this week since I loaded the app.



I could download onto my Samsung Galaxy android phone from the ‘market’ altho the article only mentioned iPhones …

That's weird. I downloaded health buddy and I thought its totally crap! Useless app keeps crashing and the articles like never change for like 2 weeks. And try to read another article, then think for bug cos the title change but the text was for the previous article I was reading. Totally not worth downloading in my opinion. N android n iPhone app is completely different. You probably downloaded the android version.

Sigh... my P4 son's eyesight has worsened from 75 to 150 in just 1 year. He's still pretty stubborn about reading in dim places. :stupid:

Do you know what is the equivalent of this 150 in Snellan scale? My DD was diagnosed with 6/36 vision in snellan scale. Thanks

Dear parents,

would you be keen to go to this other thread on children's health whereby you can feedback on what you think can be done at a national level to improve children's eye health. People with high myopia are more susceptible to serious complications of the eye.

We are hoping that MOH and MOE can work together for something to be done in schools , like doing eye exercises every morning or other plausible actions, eg lighting..

If you have any suggestions that may help prevent or slow down the progression of myopia in children, you are always welcome to post any feedback.

Hi, perhaps on our day of visit, there weren't that many patients, so everything was very prompt. Practically, no waiting time. All in all, we spent about 2 hours there because there were a few tests that needed to be administered, including refraction where eye drops need to be instilled 3 times and there needs to be an interval between each drop. I did comment to the nurse about the short waiting time, but she said that it all depends, and on certain days, the waiting time can be very long.
We consulted another younger doctor, Dr Zena Lim, because she's the only doctor available on a Fri afternoon. Found her to be very nice and professional. Hope you can share with us your experience at SNEC after your visit.
