All About Full-Time Maids

Aiyo, I is lousy mummy. I have never brought 2 kids out on my own before and I dont think I want to try now. Imagine both start crying and fussing at the same time? Or screaming at jiejie to stand and wait while I am handling didi. I think we will all be safer struggling at home. At least I will still end up with 2 kids when my hb comes back from work. Lol.

My hb works on most weekends and I have 2 young kids (1+/ 3+). During the weekdays, my mum and maid man over my kids. Having a maid allows me to bring the kids out on my own (and the maid) during weekends when my hb is at work. Now that I am supposed to give the maid an offday, she will go out and enjoy while we have to coop at home. How wonderful...
How come the idea of going maidless just become more attractive?
I think I should start sourcing for childcare. I think I will save more $$ and also headache. I havent even found a good enuff maid, waiting for a replacement now and I am expected to give a half past six maid offday. Great.
I know it's not easy but surely you can handle taking them out on your own? It may be a challenge when they are so young and you may have to pick and choose the places but it can be done. All of my friends in other parts of the world do it all the time, every week. We have been spoiled; we complain about children being pampered because of having maids at home but I think we are too. -

Yes, yes... I am enjoying DD now at 3.5 YO.
It will get better when the kids are olderZuEn:

It can be done if you gather enough courage. I done it many years back when I am without maid. My kids is with Nanny. Every weekend when my dh is working, I will bring my 2 kids, 3 yrs old & 1 yrs old out on my own. We take MRT and bus. I sling my 1 yr old and hold my 3 yrs old. The only thing is I don't eat in foodcourt as it need self service. What I do is either eat in hawker where they serve their food or Macdonald (many macdonald help customer to bring their food to the table if they are with small kids) or resturant. If I need to go toilet, I will go to handicap toilet as it is bigger and the kids have more space to stand aside while waiting for me.
You just need to brief your 3 yrs old of \"DO\" and \"DON'T\". They are \"old\" enough to understand. eg. Do not let go your hand. Do listen to your instruction. Ask your 3 yrs old to \"help\" looking after your little 1 yr old \"baby\". You will be surprise that they do \"help\" us out.
You will get a hang of it after a few outing. Actually, I love to bring my kids out without maid as we can have more \"me\" time together.
:snuggles:
Even now with maid, we always go out without maid.

Yes, I always go out with 4 kids, aged fr 3 to 9. But not to go shopping for yr clothes, u will always end up at the toy section.
The other place where I can bring them to will be playground or places where there is sand, swimming pool, then I can sort of relax a little....yes, u will probably need to visit the toilets a few times with the little ones... -
Yes, it can be done. The concern is who is going to responsible if anything bad/wrong happens to them on their 4 off-days…[/quote]
hi HappyH,
Me too. I’m interested to know whose responsbility will that be if anything goes wrong during their 4 off-days. -
Letting the maid rest enough is a good call. However to make it mandatory 1-day off without accounting for responsibilities is totally uncalled-for.
Its like you tell your kids they study mon-sat le. Sun die-die must sleep or go out if not it is very inhumane.
MOM collects over $5mill in levies per mth but come out with such a flimsy law. -

So with more off days maids are tempted to work in sg and they can spend all their money eating and shopping in sg, good for spore. Also more levies to collect. -
my maid of 4 months came but within the second, we noted that she has been using my girl’s hp and calling since when nobody at home for an hour… guess she knew about that as we made a hoo haa over the phone bills with my girl. n she had since stop using it but instead she went downstair without our notice and even invite her friends over what should i do as i do not wish to change another maid cos this will b my 3 time…i already spent soo much $$$ on agency fee and their loan and if to change again and this kind of quality again my bank n pocket will go bankrupt…hoplessly in need of help…if to put the kids in the childcare, I have to get up early to prepare their stuff n food and I’m a full time busy mom…already lack of rest n sleep if weekly rest day for her i will drop

I personally feel that having a peace of mind is important, more so when you are a working mum leaving your kids and house under her care. If this
helper is not up to your requirement, if you have to change, you just gotta
change if you foresee that more problems will come up. Certain issues you
probably have higher tolerance and can close an eye but not to some. However, you may want to give each other a chance by telling her your house rules
and observe after after that. Good ones will listen and respect it. HTH
