Letting the maid rest enough is a good call. However to make it mandatory 1-day off without accounting for responsibilities is totally uncalled-for.

Its like you tell your kids they study mon-sat le. Sun die-die must sleep or go out if not it is very inhumane.

MOM collects over $5mill in levies per mth but come out with such a flimsy law.

So with more off days maids are tempted to work in sg and they can spend all their money eating and shopping in sg, good for spore. Also more levies to collect.

my maid of 4 months came but within the second, we noted that she has been using my girl’s hp and calling since when nobody at home for an hour… guess she knew about that as we made a hoo haa over the phone bills with my girl. n she had since stop using it but instead she went downstair without our notice and even invite her friends over what should i do as i do not wish to change another maid cos this will b my 3 time…i already spent soo much $$$ on agency fee and their loan and if to change again and this kind of quality again my bank n pocket will go bankrupt…hoplessly in need of help…if to put the kids in the childcare, I have to get up early to prepare their stuff n food and I’m a full time busy mom…already lack of rest n sleep if weekly rest day for her i will drop

I personally feel that having a peace of mind is important, more so when you are a working mum leaving your kids and house under her care. If this
helper is not up to your requirement, if you have to change, you just gotta
change if you foresee that more problems will come up. Certain issues you
probably have higher tolerance and can close an eye but not to some. However, you may want to give each other a chance by telling her your house rules
and observe after after that. Good ones will listen and respect it. HTH 🙂

Thanks YJL for your advice. I’ve changes 3rd times and I do not earn that much… Already this am told her certain stuff she answer back but in a gentle manner…

Eventually I will leave the care of my kids to the truly original singaporean childcare teacher. but poor kids will not like… do we ahve to suffer in the hands of these nonsence foreign helpers…??? n yet have to give them so many previledges…

In fact I treated all maids well i had a good maid who worked for me 7 yrs she went to taiwan as she wanted to have a look at taiwan… thereafter all maids are like changing clothes problematic…

Since she answered in a gentle manner, hopefully she wants to work but din know her ways are intruding to you. FDWs are afterall not highly educated, unlike Singaporeans who understand social protocols.

Agencies are really at fault. They impose high maid loans, high agency fees and yet only provide one day training to the maids.

MOM knows but chose the easy way out by not regulating them.

Do list down the rules you will like your maid to follow. Let her know she is doing a good job with the housework but following your rules will make you like her more. Hope things work for u.

                      Peace Charlie,

One of my maids at the end of 1 day told me that she wanted to go back to the agency bcos she cannot stand the way my mum talk to her! My mum didnt even scold her. After persuading, she agreed to try for one more week. The next early morning, my mum asked if she has taken her bfast. She immediately went to pack her bag insisting that she cannot endure my mum (the way my mum talks to her). She refused to do anything and so sat in one corner of my living room with her packed bag until the agency opens and for me to send her back!

So as employer, we now have to speak nicely and gently to the maids. Faint.

omg. mind sharing which agency send u this maid? they should check properly if the girl has the right mindset before recommending to u.

i think this maid definitely is problem kid. Maybe has a few employers before you le.
