2014 P1 Registration Exercise for 2015 In-Take
-
hi C3P0,
nobody can predict ahead what is the intake for 2015.
RGPS Principal is tight lipped because the one that decide student enrollment intake is MOE, not her.
We can only observe from the pattern trend, signal sent out for 2006 batch.
By mid May, MOE will announce intake for 2006 kids, for next year 2013 P1 intake.
Perhaps wait a little while more ... akan datang, since now already March.
i) if 2006 batch reduce to 8 classes (ie. 240 pupils), it is possible that 2007 batch may further cut to 7 classes (210 pupils).
ii) however if 2006 batch still can remain at 9 clases (ie. 270 pupils), likely that 2007 batch also remain at 9, or 8 classes.
whether (i) or (ii) happen, comes 2008 your batch for 2015 P1:-
your intake either stabilize at the last intake of 2007 batch, or further cut by another class.
this is because 2016 going single session, operate within extremely tight limited resources. Even temporary holding at Mount Sinai don't have so many classroom to accomodate so many classes from P1 to P6.
if the worst case scenario takes place - have backup plan.
as u stay < 1km from rgps, the next nearest all girls school is SCGS, or MGS.
are you also < 1km from SCGS, MGS ?
you can type in your postal code address, check:-

thus if your backup plan is SCGS, you may want to prepare your daughter mentally to sit for the tests in P1 Term 1 beginning first few weeks, when she reach K2.
SCGS going to accept the pioneering first batch of Secondary 1 \"Integrated Programme\" students straight all the way up to A level, wef next year, January 2013. The new Junior college built will be ready by 2017, to receive the pioneering first batch of A level students from (SCGS, CHIJ St Nicholas, Catholic High). SCGS going to be very hot! Within these few years, expect hot demand at P1 registration.

Hi phtthp,
Many thanks for your very informative post once again, I'm sure it benefits many others too.
So the RGPS lady I spoke to did tell the truth, that vacancy is decided by MOE
I will heed ur advice and see the vacancy for this year. If it reduces either this or next year, then.....hopefully MOE comes up with some changes that's beneficial to me, ha. Otherwise, fly kite liao.
I'm 1-2km of SCGS (thanks for the map tool and ballot result links too). So chance is smaller. Same goes for MGS as we are neither alumini nor affiliated with the church.
Nevermind, just try my best ya.
Thanks once again and have a good weekend ahead!phtthp:

Reporting here! My gal is 2008 tooβ¦

C3P0:
Hi Im new here and am totally stressed up with all this P1 registration. Please bear with me if im asking a dumb question... if u are saying that RGPS is temporary moving to Mount Sinai ..then when u register the address for the < 1km. should it be within 1 km from Hillcrest address or Mount Sinai.Hi phtthp,
Thanks, I find this a most useful post.
Do u know if the vacancy will remain as 270 for 2015 intake?phtthp:
hi Chengkek,
phase 2C balloting is based on -
rgps permanent address at 21, Hillcrest Road, Singapore 289072. NOT the temporary 2 years occupancy at 53 Mount Sinai (from Jan 2014 - Nov 2015).
as your daughter born 2008, she'll start 2015 P1 AFTERNOON session at Mount Sinai road (Holland). This used to be the former Raffles Junior College premises twenty years ago. Come 2016 once school kick off single session, your girl by then P2 return to Hillcrest road permanently, study morning session. Additonal brand new buildings, new classroom + new sports facilities welcome her eagerly.
overall, your girl need only study one year at Mount Sinai. The rest P2 to P6 will be at Hillcrest.
before you start buying or shift house <1km to Hillcrest for phase 2C, you may call up MOE helpline at tel: 68722220. Supply them your new postal code address. The duty officer on the spot can confirm if your new address is truly indeed < 1 km.
this is important. In the past there were cases before where parents complained why their condo block is not less than 1 km but within 1 to 2 km, yet their neighbours's block strangely lies less than 1 km. So one has to be careful.
another reason is property agent in an eager state to close business deal earn commission fast may anyhow say your condo is less than 1 km. So safer to best check with MOE helpline. They have this computer software that detects like radar instantly your distance range, based on the postal code address you supply them.
My gal is a 2008 baby and currently we are looking for a place that is within 1km from Hillcrest and now with this temporary move, i'm rather confused. -
since it is a temporary move, the permanent address (hillcrest) is the official address to be used in primary 1 registration.

Hi
Just stumbled on the rosyth primary website, they had announced that they will not be accepting any parent volunteer for children born 2008.
http://www.rosyth.moe.edu.sg/cos/o.x?c=/wbn/pagetree&func=view&rid=78756
Anyone know why ? Is it a hint that the new policy to be implemented will scape the whole pv thingie ? -
wait until coming May month end (akan datang).
They will announce new changes to P1 registration system, to public.
those of you under phase 2A alumni (both 2A1 and 2A2):-
you may contact the Head of alumni in your alma mater, find out what's the status now ? Call up your school, find out when is the next urgent alumni meeting conducted ?
if there is any new changes to be made to 2A scheme -
the first point of contact MOE will inform are the various schools' Principal.
In turn, respective school Principal will call for an alumni meeting via email, disseminate information down quickly to all alumni members, come down for meeting - before info is officially released / announced to public. This way, alumni members are \"mentally prepared\", in advance. -

Hi...I also asked the same question in my earlier post but seems no response...I called the school and their response to me was to revisit their school website next year for more information....Hi
