2009 GEP Screening And Selection

I'm a P3 student, just received news that I got into GEP. May i ask what a GEPer's life is like? Is it easy to cope? And it the Gep programme stressful?

My son did not get selected for gep too. He did very well for his recent exam and rank position 3rd in his cohort. 11 from his school got in. Anyway, I told him to move on and be proud of his consistent good results. Continue to strive and see rewarding results in PSLE. It’s a long learning journey.

My daugther is being selected for the GEP program. However, she is not keen to take up this program as she is not ready to leave her current school.


I should say CHIJ( OLQP) is really a good and nurturing school for the girls.

If she insists to stay in her current school, we will have to respect her decision.

GEP Parents - can share more about the program and do your children 'suffer' in the process?

My daughter got into GEP… As parents, we have mixed feeling… happy that she passed the exam and worry whether she can cope with the programme.


She is also quite reluctant to leave SCGS…

Yes, that's right. Being a GEPer is great, if you can't is fine too. Main stream students can perform well and some can even out-performed the GEPers.My girl did not get selected although she sat for the second round and was disappointed. But she worked hard and achieved the top student in her school during the PSLE and was placed in the GEP class in sec 1.

So for those who did not get in, tell your kids , they can do even better than some GEPers. Jia You !

My boy is a GEPer and he does enjoy the program. They learn more in depth as compared to main stream students. Besides, they learn more in advance and they learn more skill such as research cum presentation. If you do have sister or brother in the secondary school, you will be learning the skill and some knowledge of secondary school students.
But not to worry, you wont be stretched over night, everything is done systematically over the next three years (P4 to P6).

The school teacher will guide you step by step . You will need to concentrate in class, do your part as a student ( complete your homework cum projects ) and everything will be fine.

My son never regret changing his school and getting into the GEP program although he did miss his friends. But one will still get to meet and live with new friends in the new school so Don't Worry and Be Happy.

Regardless of whether you get in to GEP or not , everything has its advantages and disadvantages so Just Be Happy and Stop Worrying. Do not worry worries till worries worry you. Just move on. Cheers

last yr they stated only for parents but when I went there I saw that many of them brought their child along :stupid: I should have brought my boy there :stupid:
