      Dear Champion,

I have this book for comprehension. My DD finds it bit challenging. But good thing is she is referring to the dictionary to understand the meaning of several words. I am not stopping this since it might improve her vocabulary skills. All the best.

      good morning mummy HAPPYH :hugs:
:hi5: Yes, indeed the passage are quite challenging and DD1 has the dictionary with her yesterday nite when she did the 1st 2 topics πŸ˜„

That is fast. Your DD is really great. She chooses the comprehension book on her own. Self motivated. Very Good. :salute: her. Learnt from mummy??? Should be la.

My DD always goes to the stationary section whenever I am at the assessment books side. Sigh.

Now the entire attention is turned towards English since we did not have practice during the first term. But my DD is really in holiday mood :imcool:

Good Morning Mummy Janet & plum-cake :grphug:

Think I am the most guilty one  - both DDs' Elite books have been :snooze: :snooze: in my cabinet and hardly used  I can't comment on the contents as if I remember correctly, both have only touched 2 exercises :siam:

Went for the Parent-Teacher-Meeting last Saturday. DD1 P4 FT was very encouraging and positive towards DD1's learning curve. She just mentioned that DD1 needs a little push and help on the comprehension part. As DD1 was sitting besides me. she heard the whole conversation πŸ˜‰ So, yesterday when we were at Popular getting her stationery, she picked up the following book and put into the shopping basket πŸ˜‰
            http://i40.tinypic.com/283095.jpg\">

Am targeting to use this book to guide her along and hopefully she able to grasp the pointers in answering to OE comprehension questions πŸ˜„
            Hi Chamion.
Thanks, as you know last year I bought all conq series and that idea didn work with us well. so now I am using all in one books. whenever she makes mistakes I note that section and do some target drilling using the seperate title books. Because of the limitted time and sometimes I feel what to teach and where to start.... :frustrated:
But I have zoom in comprehension and cloze by casco . I think we did about 10+ worksheets and It's now one of those books in the shelf. This year I bought quite a lot of casco books n Just Edu.
mine is not an assesment girl... she will wander in the storybook section or stationary section when we go to pop...Keep up the good work!
            Thanks again champ.

                Hi evergreen,

You can try to buy some of the oral picture discussion books available in the popular..use link below to check out some of the common books

                https://www.popular.com.sg/jsp/product/product_detail.jsp?vca001=112&vpd001=94802
                https://www.popular.com.sg/jsp/product/product_detail.jsp?vca001=112&vpd001=59320

You can make your DD practice with different themes of pictures inside the books..

                Teach her..how to start..by saying \"this is picture shows a scene of a park/zoo/hawker center etc\"

Then she can imagine the picture to be divided in 4 squares..and begin to describe what she can see in each square (like start from top left corner..and proceed on)

Let her try few..then she will be more confident when she goes before the teacher..

If she forgets to describe somethings..like objects or people's expression..you can highlight to her later on after she finishes speaking..the main aim is that your child can speak fluently and confidently without stammering or mumbling the words..

My DD1 is in P2 only (many more years to go till PSLE πŸ™ )..and this is what I am doing with her..she is doing well so far (I think.. )

am sure there are more experiend parents out here..who can guide you better.. 🀷

wish all the best to your DD πŸ˜„

I found out that Elite series is not suitable for local context...realized some sections in P6 not very useful for my son...since i've bought it, cant possibly waste it...I will get him to practise some areas like MCQ and synthesis.

                  Hi Janet,
I've used this book(P2,P3) with my dd, I am going for P4 one. I am not sure about the P6 one. can you please tell me which part of the book is not for local context? (other than the cover)
I love the contents & vocab.
                  Thanks.[/quote]
Eng is really very broad...asked Eng teacher during PTM about synthesis and how to improve Eng for SA1. She said to work on comprehension OE (20 marks), practise more synthesis connectors and read Straits Times...different exposure to articles like nature, art, crime etc.
Used to get whole range of conquer...but find that it's too basic. So I'm having a hard time finding target assessment and also all-in-1. This week I am going to make him work hard.

                      good afternoon! :grphug:

DD1's godma (one of my close friend) bought her this book over last weekend. Previously, I did bought the creative writing book by TAS but did not seen the above 🀷

Read only the first page \"Foreword\" - it states that \"this book is appropriate for very high ability Primary 3 and 4 students who have already mastered the vocabulary that is often used for their age group.....\"

Anyone has used the above book? Can share your experience? :thankyou:
