Disagree.. it's under her responsibility. what's so difficult about replying an email?davos:
Yup, she was totally cruel to do that to a child, and her student. When hubby and I met her for PTM, naturally it wasn't 'shiok'. She was also the FT. There was absolutely no reason why she had to make him stand in front of the class. What's wrong with a parent asking what will be tested for CA?
I am not a teacher...however, if every parent were to ask the teacher what will be tested for CA, then the teacher will be spending a lot of time answering these emails and naturally they will not be happy about it.
The teacher can prepare a handout and give to everyone detailing all the necessary info about the CA. If parents ask, she can prepare standard template with attachment \"There, already give to your kid\". Takes less than 30sec to reply each email. Click \"reply\", copy & paste, click send.. very difficult meh?
During DS primary time , as parents we work around the system and
observe what the school is fishing out to our children, ask his her friends
and the mothers , get it from the grape vine, these net working is very
effective, teacher sometime do not say too much for whatever reason, it alway yah , he is doing ok , but his friends will tell you in fine details. :rotflmao:
Yes, its teacher responsiiblity to reply but it is this resources cruch that create such unpleasant encounter,
Janet .....we have our encounter too ....sometime we chose to keep quiet (definitely not because we cannot ask) just to make sure our DS DD do not have too much distraction dealing with other unecessary noises from school or take it another positve way , building resiliency .....
jia you :hi5:
This school system is driving us 'havoc'

There are really varying standards of Teachers’ proactiveness & communication skills. This year my DD has an exceptionally caring, proactive & fantastically communicative & responsive teacher. She’s in P5 now and while generally all the teachers in the last 4 years have been good but this year is her FT is exceptional by many standards. DD is in the "worst" performing class and this teacher has quite a handful of kids with learning difficulties including my DD, yet she takes pains to find out about each child’s specific needs and work with the parents to accomodate the child. I shared about DD’s ADD & teacher has spoken with me about using specific strategies to help DD be on task in class. She’s allowed DD to walk around in between periods, use the timer, ensures she is clear about her homework, and most importantly, very gentle yet firm.
At the end of each week, this FT emails all the parents, with a substantial paragraph about each subject, what topics were covered and what worksheets were done and highlighting activities conducted. She responses to parents’ email within 48 hours (she tries v hard to reply within 24 hours).
If there’s a desired vision of what a caring & responsible teacher looks like, I would say this teacher is it!! I intend to write a glowing testimonial to the Principal about this teacher. I’m accepting my DD may not excel in academics but to have a caring teacher who strives to encourage & help non-performing kids to do well is truly rewarding for me. -

We had a wonderful FT too in P3 & P4. One sign that the system needs enhancement is the large variations in quality amongst schools, between teachers and classes.
It is not acceptable from the organizational management perspective to say that it is because this is a people business and therefore we must accept these variations. McDonald's, Ichiban Sushi and the Citadines hotel chain are people driven businesses too but guests sure expect the same level of service worldwide.
Even DHL is a people-driven business. Management processes for command and control in MOE are weak or lacking. The centre cannot control the satellites. There are some really easy and textbook solutions to this if only MOE would first accept that some thing needs to be done. -

This is the Mark of a Teacher - teaching is a calling not a job,
its the Architect of the soul.

did you email her and cc to the HOD..?
so her HOD may hv the impression that she not doing her \"job\"....  jk.....
If that didn't work, go to the VP or P.
The ultimate button will be MOE .. the school will be totally stressed.
You have a case, what she did was not right. -
beanbear:
you can nominate her for the presidents award or sthg like that..
