Apply for teaching position

Hi there,


I need some information regarding teaching position in Singapore.
I am an Indonesian, am holding SPR.

I hv passion to be a teacher in Singapore. Ever since I have 2 children, my passion is getting stronger :).

I wish to apply through MOE, so I could get teaching training in NIE for primary students.

Anyone can share? What should I do?
Your kind advise is very much appreciated.

Yes, I hv read this web. But i got my degree from indo university. Hence, do i need to take English profiency test only or IELTs?

Is it difficult for SPR to be a teacher? Especially the degree from local Indo which we dont speak English in our subjects

I can barely understand my son's Bio teacher when she speaks in English, so I suppose it is possible!

I am also thinking of a mid-career switch into teaching. I am a Singapore citizen (born and bred). I have a B.Eng (Hons) and M.Sc, both from NUS. I did well enough at 'A'-levels to be offered a PSC scholarship in teaching, but I rejected it then. I am now almost 40. I am just wondering if I will stand a chance due to my age. I also wonder if my rejection about 20 years ago would have any negative impact on my application?

Is there anyone who is in a similar situation who could share any insights or views?

From what I'm aware, MOE is keen to recruit mid-career change professionals for a teaching position. However, I'm not sure what is the criteria that they are looking for.

MOE needs teachers desperately. Be prepared for a big pay cut if you want to go into teaching. My hubby (mid 40s) almost left his IT job to be a teacher, but we could not manage the big difference, especially since he is sole breadwinner. Even though we hardly ever visit restaurants, have holidays or buy branded stuff, it will be hard to survive if he had become a teacher.
