      buds:
Errr... why are YOU washing your children's shoes? :skeptical:

      Errr....else my MIL?? :rotflmao:

Your kids started washing their own shoes?
So far I only let them do the simple chores .... keep bed/change pillow case, hang fold blanket/clothes/laundry, wash own cup/utensils. Tried asking them to break egg and learn to cook egg but first thing each smash 3 eggs consecutively :slapshead:

What other kind of 'child labor' can I squeeze out of them? But both seems to have rather poor motor skills....getting them to sweep floor makes me :frustrated:  ....so now depend on Roomba ๐Ÿ˜‰

Life without maid can be tiring but I never regreted not having them. Althought it really takes time to get into the momentum. It is, however, whenever my boy is sick, Daddy gets all uptight about mopping the floor, keeping the place cleanโ€ฆ

I am trying to get the ck tang roman magic mop refill, there used to be one shop at chinatown that sells it cheaper, but i canโ€™t find it anymore.

I never had a maid, survived for 20+ yrs with three children. I never think that relying on maids is a good thing. Need to be independent!

                  Claudine Heng:
SMH Forest, am at similar state as you. Have only one kid now, so personally felt that i dont need a maid, so will not be renewing her contract after august. But hubby feels that with a maid, then i can spend more time to enjoy the bonding with the kid. And both of us dont need to fret over household chores.

Hi Claudine, that is true.. but I think over the course of the last 2 mths, I have made a bigger effort to bond with my child (what w the lesser time left)... we went swimming more and also i experimented on some learning packs with him... so, all in all, i would say that it is still do-able... although i am indeed very worn out the last 2 mths... PLUS i have learnt to let the house get dirtier and not bat an eyelid.. ๐Ÿ˜›

However, that said... my boy did come down with acute bronchitis (he's asthmatic)... and i myself was down with a viral infection last week... so, its not all smooth sailing.. but as we are still adjusting to the routines and schedules, i would think it is inevitable... hopefully, i would be more energised to clean his toys even more regularly.. n he will develop a higher immunity to the dust?? we never know, but i think i am still happier w/o a maid, cos ultimately, no need to pay someone who gives more troubles and headaches than there already is...

Hi SMH Forest, that's absolutely true. I think its going to be tiring for me as i work part time from home, and still need to cook and play with him, but i believe in time management and like what you mentioned - not bat an eyelid with the \"dust\" and \"mess\" in the house. ๐Ÿ˜„

More like i think i will nag at hubby more and make him do more things, though i must say its also pretty tiring to work with the stress of the boss. Let's see how it goes. Definitely i am going to give myself a break on the \"black faces\" given to me by my maid. ๐Ÿ™‚

Btw, how do you arrange dinner?

Ahhh... the nagging... as i've shared before... i do nag at my hubs quite a fair bit... but the man works almost 7 days a week... so, sometimes i do let him slack a bit too... lol... but i definitely cannot do all the chores myself, cos i work day hours and have night concalls, so i am also quite stretched myself and need him to chip in when im working at night...

For dinner.. i try to cook most days... i usually do 1 dish meals (bak kut teh, chicken stew) or will prep for those quick to cook stuff like fried rice, aglio olio pasta... for my meals, i depend on my thermal cooker and happycall pan alot...

oh btw, ur qn on the thermal pot brands... i have heard good reviews on tiger... but i am not using these brands myself.. got a cheap brand frm the hardware shop near my hse as i was in a rush to buy one... and got a 2nd one from endo during some sale.. but so far, have only used the cheap one and the endo one is still in storage.. HTHs ๐Ÿ˜„

I also just bought the happycall pan and now looking for a thermal pot. Actually i am a very bad cook so was pretty thankful my maid knows how to cook. So now, trying to learn how to cook with the happycall pan as it has so much good reviews about it. Thanks, will take alook at the Tiger brand.

You work both in the day and night? Wow! What does your boy do when you work? My boy sticks to me and i dont have time to do my work unless he is sleeping. Then again, when he sleeps, i need to prepare dinner. Really headache! ๐Ÿ˜ž
