        Ali, Bala and Charles shared a sum of $. Ali recieved 1/3 of the amt that Bala and Charles recieved altogether. The amt Bala recieved is 1/2 of the total amt that Ali and Charles recieved. If Charles recieved $110, find the total amt that Ali and Bala recieved altogether.
        help needed with thks!

          Need help:

          At a party, 6/11 of the people were children while 5/7 of the adults were women. There were 3 times as many boys as girls and 60 more women than men. After that, 14 men and 7 women left the party.

          a) How many ppl were there at the party in the beginning?
          b)How many of the people at the party in the end were male?
          help needed.thks!

              Hi
              number of people --> 77 units
              number of children --> 42 units
              number of adults --> 35 units
              number of women --> 25 units
              number of men --> 10 units
              number of boys --> 3/4 x 42 units = 31.5 units
              males --> 10 units + 31.5 units = 41.5 units

              25 units - 10 units = 15 units --> 60, 1unit = 4

              Total number people, at first = 77 x 4 = 308
              Total number of males, at first = 41.5 x 4 = 166
              Total number of males, in the end = 166 - 14 = 152

              cheers.

                Hi

                At first,
                Tony --> 1 unit
                Sam --> 1 unit + 20

                Tony lost 14 cards to Sam :
                Tony --> 1 unit - 14
                Sam --> 1 unit + 34

                1 unit + 34 = 4 (1 unit - 14) = 4 units - 56
                3 units = 90, 1 unit = 30
                1 unit + 20 = 50
                Sam had 50 cards at first.

                cheers.

                  If you are keen, my wife and I do provide private tuition and we specialise in all primary levels and will coach your child rigorously on exam techniques using top school exam papers. We have more than 15 years of teaching experience and are both Master degree holders from reputable universities. Which part of Singapore do you live?

                    Hi Xiao Hu

                    I took another look at the overlapping question.

                    The length of the rectangle is 16cm (same as before).

                    The area of the shaded area is 24 sq cm (same as before).

                    Total area of the unshaded area is 212 sq cm (different).

                    To avoid confusion, I’ve removed all my earlier posts on this question.

                    Best wishes

                      Hi all, encountered the below maths question and need help:

                      Machine A can produce 450 toys in 5 hours and Machine B can produce 120 less toys in 3 hours. Find the ratio of the number of toys produced by Machine A to the number of toys produced by Machine B every hour.

                      Would appreciate if explanation and working can be given as well so that I can have a better understanding...thanks a lot... :oops:
