I think parents are entitled to their own opinion on whether they feel a school is good. A parent's assessment of whether it is a good school, can be by many yardsticks, of which academics is one of them. KSP is a great forum precisely because parents share their thoughts and help other parents to answer some questions they may have.

There is nothing to quibble about where academic results are concerned. The PSLE results of Fairfield are are put up in their newsletter online - parents can pursue to assess whether the results are good enough for them.

No doubt, there is a long waiting list to get into Fairfield (as is the case for many other schools). The waiting list itself does not prove whether the school is 'good' or otherwise. Many parents (and former student like myself) - we like the culture in the school, and its emphasis on holistic development.

I am however not a blind advocate of the school. Each child's experience is to me, very teacher-dependent. I have a few colleagues with children currently at FMS, and I have to admit that this school may not be for everyone. The CCA system for example, is quite unique to the school and some are not pleased with it.

Totally agree with you on the points you raised. As a former student, I do like the school and like you, am not a blind advocate of the school. I have children in the school and do not subscribe to certain systems of the school.
