      Just curious....

Will a SC staying outside 2km has priority over a PR who is staying within 1km???

I am alittle confused as it appears that only SC staying within 2km will have priority, otherwise it will drive a influx of SC registration of those staying outside.

Singapore Citizens have priority over PRs in situations of oversubscription. So the school will take in citizens first before considering PRs. So a citizen staying >2km will have priority over a PR staying <1km. Heck, even a citizen staying in Pulau Ubin will have priority over a PR staying next door to the school. :rotflmao:

Point well illustrated, couldn't be clearer and there is no doubt now is definitely Singaporeans first, PR later.

i do not think there are many SC kids living in Pulau Ubin so far.

however there are Malaysian PR kids stay in Johor Bahru, study in Nanyang. Everyday, they wake up very early, school bus bring them into SG via causeway. In the past, their parents had clocked many hours of PV, so they managed to enter via 2B > 2km.

with new policy kicked in, PR kids > 2km can’t enter super hot schools like Nanyang anymore, from P1 2013 onwards.

As you know we do hv PRs doing very well at PSLE, say PRs get pushed to \"not so popular / known\" school....we can start to see a shift in the \"top\" schools from the traditional ones to the relatively unknown ones

          *agree* :goodpost:

the standard of neighbourhood schools will soon rise, with more PRs enrolled here, where parents very \"on\" type. This is healthy!

more China PR pupils like Qiu Biqing type will emerge.
She topped Qifa primary in West Coast:-

not just China PR kids, but also those Malaysian PR kids who wake up very early at dawn , school bus fetch them into SG to super hot schools like Nanyang.

This shows that these PR kids have all the determination, resilence and drive to succeed in life, their spirit undaunted - exactly the same kind of \"Never Say Die or Puay Bi Si\" spirit as Qiu Biqing determined type. They'll definitely push up the standard of the not so popular schools now. Teachers in these schools - time to wake up and work hard, bring up the standard !

MOE gladly welcome this, bring up the standard high high !
more neighbourhood schools will start to produce top PSLE students!

MOE working towards their long term objective slogan very hard now, \"All Schools are Good\", \"All Schools are Equal\".

I hope SC parents will put their children’s health in the top most priority by not subjecting them to "long-distance" travel to their parents’ ideal schools.

I have parents who stay in the North but enrol their children in school in the South! I really pity their children… please do not do this to our youngsters.

                Thank you.

With the change, SC will definitely enjoy the benefit. It’s not possible to please all. Phase 2A is linked to schools, past and present. I’m going to get shot saying this, but still have to say it. Phase 2A should be left untouched. At most combine Phase 2A1 and 2A2.

Does anyone know if this (SC priority over PR) is the end result of the MOE review (speculated to be about connections) mentioned in late Feb, or the review is still ongoing and there will be further announcements? I called MOE but could not get an answer, they just said that this is the latest and they do not have any further updates.

Also, is it possible to get breakdown of SC vs PR / foreigners for past few years application?

                        thanks in advance.
